A dime shelf is larger in diameter than a quarter shelf.
You will need it to the allow the hopper optics to see
the smaller coins as they pass through.
You may have to change the knife as well.

It will stop,  if you turn off the machine or if the fan motor burns out - whichever comes first.

Depends on how long you keep your machine on everyday.
If you turn it on and play it for an hour or so then go back later and
play it some more and then turn it off for the night -
you can probably unplug the molex connector in the topbox. (With the power off !)

But if you leave your machine on 24/7 - I'd leave it on.
Of course, your electric bill will be higher than normal.

junkman I think you need to understand how a comparator works and what it does. I think Jim explained it pretty well, but in simple terms all it does is read the coin and either opens the rake if a good coin was dropped in. or not open if it's a bad coin. If you disable the rake all electricity can be disconnected from the comparator. The comparator is now no more than a coin chute taking the coin to your trip wire micro switch. ( don't bend the rake to disable it, fold a piece of paper to hold the rake open or 2 screws and remove it )

With the rake disabled and the door open drop some Penney's in and see if they are heavy enough to trip the wire switch. If they are heavy enough you can use Penney's.

Now to the hopper shelf wheel, I think a nickel wheel will work, but that's just a guess. If you have Kids playing the machine your best bet is to disconnect the cash out button and you won't need the hopper anyway.

I should add The above disabling of the comparator will not work on a S 2000

Thanks buzz that's what I was going to do with the rake. Just hold it back I will see if I can find a nickel disc for the hopper somewhere.

Let me repeat, I said I think a nickel wheel will work but that's a guess.  If you have more time than money you could make your own. I don't know anywhere it says a wheel has to be made with metal. If you have a bench grinder. a drill motor, and a piece of plastic the thinkness of a penny. I've never had to make one but I see no problems in doing so.

Let me see  Scratch Head    we went from a problem with the machine not accepting the second coin, eh maybe sometimes  Duh!  or eh maybe sometimes, didn't come to any resolve  arrow that I have read, and now we are going to make it into a penny machine  Tongue Out  Did the coin problem disappear   Scratch Head

unhooked th two gray wires at the top and unhooked th black and yellow wire on the side of the comparitor and floleded a piece of paper to hold the rack back and yes it takes every quarter now . but the penny will not trip the switch too light . got to thinking if someone puts anything but a quarter and it goes to the hopper. thats not going to work. so i think im going to do like someone said in a early post . leave it a quarter machine and run penny credits can someone tell me how to do that. thanks guys   Scratch Head

what do i need to do to run credits up on to the machine when i put coin in is it possible to get 25 credits from one coin. on this machine. thanks

You can't on a Bally E-series machine.
You will only be able to get one credit for each token/coin or flip of the coin entry switch. Once you hit max bet for the machine, all others coins will be returned to the coin tray.

is this the same way with the bally 5000 plus when i put the max bet in. it returns the other coins also . is there away to make it when i put the coins in that i can keep feeding it and they go to credit instead of having to put 3 in at a time  stir the pot / get cooking   .  im talking about the 5000 plus
