Do the test I mentioned above and if it works (the credit goes away when you close the door), you can then check your coin optics in the self test mode.

Be aware that you have two issues here. The coin comparitor AND the optics are both not working right. As noted earlier, you can hold the rake open and try to get the optics working. If the coins are going to the tray, they are never getting to the optics, so you may not know if cleaning them helped.

Ok good, your door optics are working. You can go into the self test and check the coin optics with the input tests. If you don't know how to do this, let us know what SP chip you have.

0932

Here is the PSR for SP932. But I'm not sure how to run a coin optics test on that SP. Hopefully someone else knows.

If it's like later SP chips, this may help

<borrowed form another thread>
...10-1, 11-1 and 12-1 are three tests for the three optics in the optics circuit.

with the coin comp. removed, test 10-1 selected, you should be able to put a folded piece of paper or thin cardboard cut to size( to fit thru the black coin optic piece) and while observing the display watch as it changes from a 1 to a 0.  do this for the remaining others, e.g. 11-1 and 12-1,......

Sounds like your optics board may be bad. But running an optics test will tell for sure.

You use the self test mode. The PSR usually tells you how to do it. The PSR for the SP932 does not go into detail about it though. That is why I was hoping someone else would know how it works for that SP chip.

But you can try this and see if it works.

OK after messing around with it for another 1hr today ,with the help from OHIO GAMMING. The owner had me look the the plugs and the wires that go to and from the coin comp., so i looked at  it for the last time b4 i send it out the coin comp. for repairs, So i inserted a coin and now is working great..... it must have beed a bad connection or something.All i did was look at the plugs and the wire,did some wiggiling and presto it works.... I would like to thank everyone who helped me out.I learned more about the machine in 2 days ,than the 10 years of owning it. Most of all i would like to thank THE OWNER OF OHIO GAMMING for being so helpful over the phone to help me getting it going again.....GREAT CUSTOMER RELATIONS

thank you everyone

What I have been finding is that most of the time it is something as simple as a poor connection.
K+ to you & K+ to Ohio Gamming for going the extra to help you on phone.

The reason for my question on the model of the machine is, if it's a S+ it should have worked with the rake blocked open. This is not true with a S 2000. 1996 you would think it's a S+.
