This has to have been discussed, but I couldn't find the thread anywhere.  Has anyone successfully replaced the "guts" of... say an IGT Game King, with a PC.  The closest thing I've seen is AllJ software, but their games are kind of hokey.

Has anyone successfully interfaced IGT's PC software with bill validator, comparitor, software/buttons, etc.  I'm sure IGT would try to make this difficult as to make it tough for security and sales reasons.

I know that with the advent of windows 8, and touchscreen control becoming more commonplace on windows (and android) systems, that this options will become more and more plausable.  Perhaps I can write a piece of interface software that runs behind the scenes to interface the software and hardware.

Anyone take on this monster of a project?

Two part Q& A First. Why would you want to do this to a good running machine
Or even a broken one ?

Next is yes I have taken a Organ Dono Video slot touch screen cabinet
Taken out eveything that was not needed. Then installed a old lap top that had a bad screen
Ran 15 piin VGA PLUG & A DB-9 PIN PLUG TO THE TOUCHSCREEN
And run a IGT CD SAMPLE THAT CAME OUT IN 2004 ?

That had all the Pokers of the Multi game PE poker that IGT made and
Set it up with the S -2000 bat ear speakers.
So you could play any one of the games with no coin or Db in.
It had the same sounds as coins cashing out etc same sounds as adding credits
Etc.  The CD also had video slots. One game. Cleopatra ?if memory serves me correct ?
And had Baccarat also.
But Yes to answer your question the inside of Donor cabinet was stripped and just a
Lap top with windows XP run to the CRT TOUCH SCREEN AND AWAY YOU PLAYED
WITH NO MONEY IN OR OUT BUT WAS TOUCH SCREEN CAPABLE
Same can be done with a reg. IGT. SLOT DISC ON ANY HOME PC WITH THE
TOUCH SCREEN HOOKED UP AND PROPER DRIVERS FOR THE T/S

On the one I did with the Early IGT DISC was built for my test bench to just test out Used LCD
Touch screens.  Plus have some fun @ the same time.

Thanks Rocket.

Why do this?  Something to do Smiley

Why else?... versatility, ability to change to any old, or new game without changing hardware.  Repair would be easier as most computer parts are universal.  Also, CPU Hardware prices are cheaper and more available... on craigslist you can pick up a CPU with good graphics card for <100 bucks, a LCD with touchscreen monitor for another hundred (if you look around enough).

I'd want to integrate the software, however, with the hardware, such as the bill validator, buttons, hopper, etc.  (Again I'm thinking of a background program to read hardware and translate it to program inputs, (coin in), cash out... the tough part would be interfacing with the program... i doubt I could get source code, or don't think they'd have standard inputs and outputs....

I'm not fooling myself into thinking the first one would be cheaper, or as good as an original machine at first trial... but imagine if, ultimately, you could make an indistinguishable CPU driven version with salvaged parts.  I bet you could build the whole thing for under $500 (cabinet and all... remember... salvaged parts).

... actually... as I write this... I think I've talked myself out of the project  arrow  I've just finished up a couple of big projects, and need a break (a CNC computer controlled router, and a machine that keeps livers alive outside of the human body)  From what I read on the board, a lot of us my use the liver device Smiley

Was on a blackberry if this post doubles ? The modern medicine money $$ is well spent. It keeps us alive to have fun vs being dead. Until someone proves different ? The Australia casino heist of 32 million could of been as easy as the video glasses Howie Mandel used for pranks. Just tune your glasses into same frequency as the eye in the sky. Then you can read the dealers hand each time.  Simple scanning of any wireless video system the casino uses.  They could not be running a scrambler or there own video feed would not come out. Unless it was so refined to skip the frequency they use. Hats off to the guy or guys who put it together. Shame on the casino pit boss for letting the guy go past 5 mill. The Casino can stop play any time they want. Same as a bartender can refuse a sober person. But back to the original post yes I have done several things like you have mentioned. The ultimate goal at some point was I started to build was total touch screen on all screens .  6 feet tall slot/arcade game putting a multi game in middle like a bally game maker. Then use a JVL or Merit late model game on bottom to play all the trivia stuff or texas holdem etc. Then run splitters off the displays to see all games in action on a semi circle design cabinet with 3 displays up top just so anyone standing behind you could see clearly what game you were playing -then to literaly top it off put one LCD on top center set to a PC with just a attraction mode of the games available name of your casino etc. The time the date family pictures. Or also a mini cam pointed out at the room your in to see what going on. In a early post years ago I had done the mini cam in a IGT slant top at the hole next to the standard lock under the arm rest. To cure a family member who played slots at my house who was a female who always banged on my machines with her legs up on arm rest without underwear quite often. After enough damage was done a few pieces of award glass broken etc I put the mini cam in set it to display on my KENO TV. Mounted on wall. When she came over for a party I flipped the switch for 5 seconds and said hey look what's on the keno screen. That stopped my machines from getting damaged after I got cussed out for a hour. You can do about anything. With modern electronics.  Have a great weekend guys +gals.  Rocket.
