Electronic theory 101 = Be Careful. If you take the wrong things apart and the smoke comes out.

I have found that all things electronic stop working when the smoke escapes.

I have never been able to re-inject the smoke back into the part and get it working again.

And to think....some people need a little smoke blown somewhere to get them working.  rotflmao

NO NO NO no no.....

Now you are confusing Electronic theory with Management Theory.

Not necessarily.....sometimes when managing people, the use of a cattle prob comes in handy.....That alone should merge electrical theory into management theory.   Grin

Have heard "Don't Taze me man!" numerous times. Always seems to get what you want done though!

Well, today once again I have additional experimental data that backs up Jay's trapped smoked theory.  One my of my PC power supplies released into our world their precious smoke, now the power supply can no longer muster any power of it's own.  no no no

It's beyond a bad cap I think.  I was going to upgrade that particular machine to a "modern" platform as it was still running an Athlon XP Socket "A" type.  So I needed a new PS anyway.

I'm kind of disappointed on the Phemons.  I'm going to go full steam ahead and try to assemble up a dual socket 771 (xeon wolfdale/Harpertown 45nm dies).  It's very pricey, but I figure if I kept socket A this long, a 5 year or more lifecycle for this kind of machine will be worthwhile.
