Have a road trip planned that ends up in the Memphis/Tunica area for a few days. Anyone have any insider info on hotels and casinos in Tunica? Best places to stay/eat/gamble?

I know the coast has better places but that would be several more hours on an already long road trip so thats out of the question. I haven't been to Tunica since like 1999 or 2000 when I was underage but was able to sneak in and play. That was the only time I got to play slots in a casino that took coins.

I've heard good things from a friend about Gold Strike but I was hoping for more opinions. I trust you guys a lot more than I trust a random travel website  Help

Good feedback. I was thinking about staying at horseshoe as well so we may do that. The new horseshoe just opened up here in Cincinnati so maybe I should go play a few time in the next couple weeks and get acclimated  bust gut laughing

crgadyk have you made your trip to Tunica yet.   If so what was your opinion of the casinos, and which one did you like best?
Thanks Mike

haven't left yet. The road trip starts this Friday morning and we'll be in Tunica the 21st and 22nd. We ended up getting a room at the Horseshoe. It was reasonably priced, got good reviews online, good review on here, and its right beside 2 other casinos. The other I have heard a lot of good things about is GoldStrike which is right next door. We'll probably check a few of them out while we're there.

I can't wait.

We're staying on Beale street the 19th and 20th and then at the horseshoe the 21st and 22nd.

Maybe we can work out the details and be at the same place at the same time.

Have fun... we had a good time but didn't do much good in any of the casinos. 2 of us played for 2 full days and only spent around $300 so I consider that a pretty good trip.

My favorite place was the one that I though I would hate from the outside.... Fitzgeralds. Looks like a castle from the outside and its super cheezy but they had a whole section of S+, PE+, and Bally 6000 machines that all had coin in. I'd only ever played on a coin in machine in a casino one time since they had all gone to TITO before I moved to an area near a casino. Luckily we were able to sit and play them for a few hours. I won and lost quite a bit thanks to that stupid double up on the VP games. It was very enjoyable.

Also got to meet a fellow member of the forum while there which was also nice.

we get there at 530 pm today  staying at horse shoe ,but might hit the fitz  , between kate and i we have 12 dinner pass,s for 2 and little over 900 in free play coming, its way better tere for us than cherokee  nc ,its only 1hr 15 to airport  and 1hr 45 flight, cost us 30 to park and that all we have to pay for ,cherokee   cost us 60 to 80 in gas and 4 hours each way and 5 buck beers , tunica free beer , as long as they keep givin free flights  thats were we,ll go, if we lose big next week i,ll have some big sales going on

We only ate at Sam's Town... on Wednesday they basically have free buffet. At free I felt like I was over charged.

You should find the bank of new Bally's that has "slick's tiki bar" in it at the Horseshoe... I went back to that bank of games 3 or 4 times and walked away with more money every time. Played the same game over at Gold Strike and won a lot on it as well.

While playing at the Horseshoe, I spent most of my time at the bar where the 25 cent GameKings are... Free Jack and Ginger Ale's come quicker when you cut out the server and just sit where the bartender is. Katie was drinking bloody mary's with double olives and we spent enough time talking to the bartender that when we went out on the main floor to play and ordered drinks, her's came with double olives since he knew it was us ordering them.
