So yesterday I power up my Mother's S2000 and I hear PSSSTTT and the nasty smell off escaped gas.   Burning Resistor  I quickly power off.  Looking at the board I couldn't find anything wrong with it, no burnt traces or signs of discoloration anywhere.  So I put my backup 502 board and the game works as expected.  This morning I try again with my preferred 504 board but there was no life, the VFD display didn't even light up to say (Netplex down), reels are loose, DBV did not cycle.  So I remove the mpu and remove the board out of the tray to get a closer look.  My eyes are not as good as they were just a few years ago (I am ever so close to that senior citizen discount that Ron gets all the time).  And with a magnifying glass under a LOT of light, I find this:
