Title: DBV-145 DBV-200 power up sounds - troubleshooting videos
Post by: poppo on September 30, 2011, 12:09:58 PM
I posted these in another thread, but figured they might be easier to find if in their own thread. I added a third video to show what a bad cash can optics will sound like. A lot of DBV-145/200 issues can be determined by listening to the power up cycle. Keep in mind that the unit should cycle as long as it has power. It will cycle even without a MPU installed. So if it is not doing anything at all, you probably have a power supply or cabling issue.

This video is what the normal cycle sounds like

This video is what it sounds like if the cash can is not being detected (possibly because the transport is not seated properly - see picture below videos).

Here is a video with the cash can optics not working. Linsten closely to the clunking sound after the initial cycle. You may need to turn up the volume to hear it. I had installed a Sentry bezel when I did this video, but a regular one would just not light up.

A common problem for the sounds in the second video is the transport not being seated properly. While there are several ways to check it, the way I do it is to just pull the can and look inside. The tabs should be down as indicated in the picture as well as the gear. The transport locking handle should be UP.

I have not been around much lately and noticed several recent threads about odd sounds. Figured I would bump this up since it's been a couple of years and this  had scrolled down a few pages.
