Fascinating stuff, but some strangeness. The Dunes must have been demolished by a Hollywood movie crew, since it was blown up with fireworks and about ten thousand gallons of gasoline and was still standing afterward. And the Landmark - boy, that was messy. They blew the bottom half of the column out, then the rest just wobbled and fell over like a giant toadstool. Couldn't they have done a better job, say by flying a plane into it?  stir the pot / get cooking

The Aladdin was actually demolished the day I had my interview that brought me to Las Vegas, but I didn't get to watch because I was in the departure lounge for my flight out when they did it.
