I tried searching how to deal with this problem but couldn't find much.  I didn't make any changes - just fired up the game and got door optics misalignment, which cleared and now left me with the 7 segment mismatch.

 Help

What MPU are you using? Also check CMOS battery voltage and all plugs to make sure something isn't loose

Cmos battery was replaced not too long ago. Its a 75510501 Rev A. I'm assuming that's a 501 board... I have had door optic problems before with this machine. That was about a year ago.  Nothing ever reappeared til now.

Seven segment mismatch error is something usually seen after a clear, like a machine type mismatch error, but it should be a self clearing error too. If you open and close the door several times does the machine acknowledge each opening and closing properly? Make sure your MPU and the chips on it are seated well also. Along with your IO cards

Closure m along with 7 segment errors... made sure all chips are properly seated and checked I/o connections.

The display for "credits" has a dot on in the second to last segment. Dont know if that helps or means anything.

Do you own a clear chip and do you know how to use it?

I own a key 17 and key 97. I haven't done a clear/key in ages. Should I leave this for tomorrow?

I would, and check all seating and socketing before you do. Even if it's just pressing down harder on an SB chip that appears to be seated already

I have tried all of cowboy's suggestions.  Anything else before I do a full clear????

I was thinking stacked errors like most here. I open and close door multiple times and when its closed, it'll say Closure M and 7 segment mismatch. Wondering if my door optics are not aligned properly.  Scratch Head

Thanks

If you're getting closure m then it is seeing the door as closed and optics should be fine. If you push the test button on the MPU can you get into the menus to look at the current 7 segment display setting? I believe it's in one of the key chip menus. 7.1 if I'm not mistake . Haven't beenin those menus in a while

When I push the white test button I only see menus 1, 2 and 4... do I need to put the key chip in to access 7.1?

White test button should give you access to all menus. Jackpot reset key is limited access. Any chance your jackpot reset key switch is shorted?

Key switch or it's wire harness shorted closed is what I'm referring to. Not shorted to ground

This error happens when you tell the game it has the wrong display or the credit display is bad. When you clear chip the game it selects the display thru hardware IDs.
Take a flashlight and look thru the credit display window, if you have 2 digits it should be 5-5-2 if it has 3 digits it should be a 6-6-3.

It doesn't generally lose that setting once it's stored though. His was working fine for a while and came up with this error on it's own.

the 0 in the credit window looks to be full size so your setting should be 5-5-2. when they changed to 6-6-3 it had to fit in the same size window so the digits are smaller. The 6-6-3 display allows you to use a Multi Denom touch panel.

Ok, all I did was remove the SB chip from the current game and replaced it with a different game. It booted up and worked.

This mean the SB chip for the first game is no good - I guess I can try and put it back in and see if it works.

I just went through one of these problems. Turned out to be a printer problem, something to do with the paper.   all the settings were right in the Key chip area, so If your machine has a printer, I would check out the operation of it.  you can go into the I/O tests and test the printer, advance one ticket and print a demo ticket.

Hope this helps

+1 (Karma, or whatever) to all that tried to help and more to those who can explain how the £♡€☆ this happened.

How it happened I can't say. Would have to be able to duplicate it on demand for that, but I can tell you those settings should be automatic on boot up. Could be either a chip or board problem and until it fails for good you may never know. You do know how to fix it now though Clap
