date should be stamped in top of metal plate  or post pic here  i,m sure someone here will know year

I've seen several older Bally's where the month is stamped in the upper left hand corner of the tap and the year is in the upper right.

as slotsteve said, it is stamped in the metal plate along the very top, you need a flashlight, and I need a magnifying glass to make out the three numbers, month, date , year.

shine the light at an angle and you will see the numbers,  most every Bally tag had the dates stamped onto them.

That looks like one of Bally's E-Series. They were made from I think 1980 thru 1986..

If it's jammed, force it... If it breaks it needed to be replaced anyway...
