I am trying to clear a bally s6000 mpu board. I can clear the board if the coin switch is down (off position) but if I try to clear the board with the switch up I get no display and the red reset light just stays on solid, I have tested the mains and personality chips and they are good. Even if I clear the board with the switch down and reprogram the machine once I turn the switch back up the machine freezes and the red reset light stays on.  Any ideas. Thanks

Did you do a complete clear?
Did it work before?

Yes it did work before, I cant do anything with the coin switch up. With the switch up... no display, no errors just the red reset light stays on. I have tried the board in different machines and same thing

When you are doing a complete clear
Complete - Press and hold the PSEUDO COIN and TEST
Does anything come up in window?

yes, nothing happens, no display, just the red light on solid. It will clear and work with no issues when the switch is down. It will do nothing with the coin switch up.

Richard,

Just a thought
Do you have a WBA Installed if so make sure DS2 SW5 is ON SW6 OFF
If not try switching them but you have to perform a clear again.

Found the problem after many hours of head scratching, it was the switch it self, it must have been shorting out. I removed the switch and just jumpered out what would be the up position and now all good. Thanks for the help.

Dancing Party  Wat to go . Glad you got it fixed. I never ran into one of those switches going bad.
+1 (Karma, or whatever) for sticking with it.
