I have a 17" v7200 Gamemaker.   The3 screen had a verticle jitter and the calibration was off. I took it in and they replaced a few capacitators. There was a scratch on the screen so they replaced it.  It works fine when the bench teck hooks it up to his computer; but when I get it home ; the touchscreen doesn't work at all. The picture is now perfect with no jittering; but as seen by the pics; I get the red arrows at the bottom of the screen now.  The touchscreen doesn't work at all ( during play or for diagnostics). I've checed the 3 wires and pins for  for the touchscreen; everything is fine.  Again ; the touchscreen works fine for the benchtech when he hooks it up to his computer.... I'm baffled.     hissy fit hissy fit hissy fit  Bill

Check the power going to the touch screen controler should be a green/yellow,gray,orange .Is the green light lite on the controler .The green/yellow and gray are some times connected together the orange by it self .They get connected to the monitor board when you get power the calibration for the touch screen will come on after calibration the arrows will go away.  wave Ron.........................(SLOTS OF FUN)

Hi Ron ... thanks for the response. The green light for the controller is on.  When I touch the screen; the green light dims a bit. I checked the 3 wires you mentioned.... they go to the black connector labeled " monitor" on the back plane.  The 3 wires seem good and are intact.  I am baffled beyond imagination.... extremely frustrating hissy fit hissy fit   Any other ideas  ????

You should look for leaky caps on the power supply board.... replacing the caps in some cases repair the problem....
Be sure on dipsw2 on level 6 is set to off.... enabling this level the machine is set to "touchscreen not installed"....

This may not apply to you with the 7200, but I tried using 23 Mains with my 7000 and the touchscreen simply didn't work. When I did a clear and got to the hardware calibration screen, I had to turn the key to bypass it. I got the same results when trying to calibrate it from the main menu. I also tried several clears.
Everything else worked fine and the Mains passed the checksum test, but the machine would not read the touch controller. The controller returned to normal functionality as soon as I replaced the Mains. I figured that the 23's might only work with a V7200. Scratch Head 2

I have no idea if there are Mains that would cause issues with the 7200. but it's something to consider.

A known fact the touch screen on that monitor was in perfect working condition prior to the cap job on the monitor. Why fix something that's not broke ?  frying pan

If a new controller was used, maybe wrong protocol flashed.

The Microcal software provides an additional programming of the controller.  When ordering a controller, your supplier will typically ask what game the controller will be used on.  This is necessary for them to program the controller to work on the game you will be using it on.  Most suppliers charge extra for this.  The specific setup for each of the games is in the protocol used to communicate with the game.  Protocol settings can be accessed and changed through the Settings drop down menu.  Then select Modify.  You must have a controller connected to proceed past this point.  Protocol has a drop down window, which has several choices.  Three of these protocols are commonly used in gaming monitors.  Bally machines use the N71protocol.  Williams use either N81 or N82 protocol.  There are no hazards with using a wrong protocol other than the touch screen will not communicate with the game.  Trial and error works.

My game maker 17 CRT to 18 LCD is going OK except for the touchscreen part bawling The controllers I have do not contain the n71 protocal that the game maker may need to work? I tried to change the protocol (thanks to this site's help) with microcal software, but no luck. Does anyone know if my controller can be flashed or better yet have a controller board with the n71 protocol they can sell me? pics:

I have a MicroTouch control board from a Gamemaker.
It's marked with 5405401 REV 2.3 1996
it also has a white sticker that reads 7209401  REV 2.2

Thanks for looking,  if it's the 12 pin board and it came out of a game maker it should work? I already have three boards that don't work because of wrong protocol.. so what's one more. If your willing to sell it, please PM me with the price plus shipping cost to Michigan. Thanks.

It works...IT WORKS!!  propeller After three months and three boards later...finally got the right touchscreen controller board from "Neonkiss" Thanks Neon for saving (whatever marbles I got left) and the $600 price tag for a new ceronix monitor in a $500 machine. Now a nice 18" LCD in  place of a 17 CRT. Just need to make a plastic bezel for it. And thanks to N.L.G.   +1 (Karma, or whatever)  Pic:
