Make sure you download the latest update for your  GQ-4X  from their website...I had the adaptor and didn't work until I had the  latest  update version for that exact  programmer.

I know this thread is old but it is the most relevant...
Where would be a good source for the 27C4002's?
These puppies are becoming "obselete" on most IC component warehouses.
I have a few games I want to back up...looking for 10 of these or similar for the S2000 base chips.

Those ST chips for the S2000 are one of the best I've tried.
Does anyone know off-hand if SST makes the "electrically-erasable" eproms?
I know they cost more but they are a breeze to use...

Also, it's been coming up here and there that the MXic company makes MX27C4096's that are "compatible" with the base chips? I've never heard of this company or know if these are "cross-referenced" anywhere to the STM27C4002's we normally use.
I'm thinking of trying some for backing up my personal games - have some insight on them?

Those ST chips for the S2000 are one of the best I've tried.

The reason why I said that was because I've had some problems sometimes trying to UV erase the NM and AT chips.
( National or NEC, and Atmel brands. )
It could be that they were just done and had seen better days, I don't know,
but I seem to have erasure problems with those two name brands.

I've never had too many of these so I erase them a lot as
I'm constantly changing out kits for "experimentation, and educational purposes".

(Tell the truth Bunker! We KNOW you like games!)
That was my schizophrenic Crazy personality thinking which oughtta be analyzed by the BAU...  Tongue Out

Bunker,

Look at my picture in the link below where it talks about the chips for Neon Nites Base chip... you can use 27C4002, 27C4096, or 27C240 actually. (AMD does AM27C4096, and Hitachi does H27C4096 as well.)

http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=16754.msg142068#msg142068

No need to post that PIC twice you can just pop over there to see it.

CH CaptainHappy

Funny... I just noticed that for the Key Chip they do not mention 27C4002 which is just fine as well. Maybe they need to read a couple lines up! HA HA TYPO! bust gut laughing

Nice sheet!  yes
But that documentation you've guys posted are for the I-Game?  Scratch Head
I'm wondering if these MX27C4096 chips work for the S2000's as base chips utilizing the GQ-4X unit?

Would that be a good assumption since the GQ-4X supports the other name brand chips
and the I-Game sheet doesn't dare mention any chipmaker?

27c4002 and 27c4096 are exactly the same...Use them all the time, have for years. Been a secret that they work. nobody looks for them. Just picked 50 brand new off e-bay for $39 shipped from the USA in 3 days. So did Ford..I tipped him off to them.

Thanks for verifying coors!  applause Clap
Are yours the MX ones?
Have you tried the MX brands in the GQ-4X because there's no mention of that chip at the MCUMall.

Wayne,

Thanks for the wise photo link post, I never thought of that, and was in a rush! Hail Clap +1 (Karma, or whatever)

Others,

I have used the 4096's for a long time as well. Also I have programmed 4096's while the programmer was set for 4002's and there were no problems. Works fine on S2000 and iGames as has been said indirectly.
