Title: replacing / upgrading DBV from JCM dbv-45 to dbv-200
Post by: quasimodem on February 16, 2010, 05:39:58 PM
i have an IGT S+ (Double Diamond Deluxe) and have the below issue:

My DBV is very finicky, even after cleaning it with a dry cloth, etc... (as listed in the forums) so i bought a new one, a dbv-200 by jcm (same brand as in it now, only newer) and it has the whole assemby, shuttle and can, if i were to replace this, would my slot require a 'reset' with the test & reset chips?

If yes, does anyone have a vendor to recommend?

Thanks in Advance.

QM

Nope, you shouldn't need a "Set Chip"  and the new DBV should work as long as the firmware that is already in the DBV-200 is compatible with your IGT game.  Give it a try.

Not Withstanding Marks comments......If you don't have a SET and CLEAR chip I would recommend you get a pair especially if you ever contemplate a game change.
For what little they cost - I would rathr have them just in case, because when you need them, you need them and its a pain waiting for 3 day shipping !

I would recommend any of the vendors that have links on our web page. Joey (your forum host) does not sell banner ads. They are complementary to vendors that have gone the extra mile for our members.
Incidently I would suggest you mention that you are a NLG member as that does get you treated right !

Jay has a good point Quasimodem.  If you are getting into slots you WILL want/need a Set & a Clear chip sooner or later.   It can be frustrating  :37- when you are making progress working with a machines and realize you now have to wait a week till your chips arrive.

Hello!

Switching from a DBV-145 to a DBV-200 in a S+ often means you have to switch the DBV power supply.  The one for the DBV-200 has slots for vents in it like the one picutred below.  Go ahead and try the swap - it won't hurt anything with the older supply - but if you have issues, keep this in mind...
