So I have a CEI Poker machine, but I think this may be applicable in general.  On the right hand of the machine, there is is a cooling fan that pulls air from the outside into the machine.  The problem is that this fan is pretty noisy.  It's working fine, but I was wondering if it would harm anything if the plug was disconnected.  It is soooo nice with it off.  Smiley

Do most poker machines regardless of mfg have cooling fans installed?  Is the intent to cool the monitor, the PCB's or all of the above?  I think about arcade machines...do these usually have cooling fans?

Anyway, I would appreciate some input and opinions.  Thanks!

Heat is the scourge of electronics..... they would not have put a fan there if it was not needed.

With that said - if your not leaving the machine on all the time you can probably get away without it.

You can get silent PC fans inexpensively and perhaps replace it.
