Don't know if anyone notcied, but there is a working Oddysey on eBay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160309876094.  This one is priced kind of high and looks to have some screen issues...

Auction text:

YOU ARE BIDDING ON ONE USED SILICON GAMING ODYSSEY VIDEO SLOT MACHINE. THIS POWERS UP AND HAS SOME VERTICAL LINES THROUGH IT. YOU CAN SEE THEM IN THE PICTURES. THE TOUCH SCREEN WORKS AND THE GAMES COME UP. IT IS SET UP FOR QUARTERS BUT IT WON'T ACCEPT THEM. THE THING THAT REGULATES THEM AS THEY COME IN DOESN'T HAVE A GREEN LIGHT ON. IT DOES TAKE DOLLAR BILLS AND WORKS.

I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS MACHINE. I PURCHASED IT AT A BANKRUPTCY AUCTION WHERE THERE WERE OTHER REGULAR SLOT MACHINES.

THIS WILL HAVE TO SHIP FREIGHT.

Happy bidding!

There's also a pretty good one in Phoenix suburbs...

Seems like there are a lot of Odysseys popping up over the past 3 months!

Oddysey killed themselves. They made junk product, didn't provide the service required for them. A casino I used to visit in NC had them and they would have banks down for weeks at a time waiting on someone to show up to fix them. They did have some fun slot games on them tho'

Odyssey isn't a company. Odyssey is a slot machine that was manufactured by Silicon Gaming, Inc.

If you do some research, you'lll find that Silicon Gaming was hit with a TRO brought by IGT, stopping them from selling their new games. That suit was dismissed, so IGT filed another after that, and then another, until SGIC was concentrating on fighting IGT, instead of supporting their machines. IGT also was campaigning behind the scenes against Silicon Gaming's online gaming subsidiary, WagerWorks. The lawsuits filed were patet infringement cases, from multiple poker games on a single machine all the way to touch-screen technology in gaming machines.

The reason IGT did this was to be able to buy the company for a fire-sale price, mission accomplished. They had approached Silicon Gaming about a sale before the lawsuits started, but Silicon Gaming's price was more than IGT wanted to pay. By the way, they (IGT) wound up getting WagerWorks, also.

IGT has proved itself to be the Microsoft of the gaming industry on a couple of occasions, this is one of those instances.

on a side note the engineers that designed the Odyssey are the same ones that now work for IGT and the same designers the AVP Platform.
now you know why the AVP is a pile of Shit.  if you ever get your hands on one you will think it's a Pachislo on steroids.. frying pan frying pan
It's a PC Based game just like the Odyssey was and the main door of the AVP is made up of cheap plastic parts in a metal frame.
The cabinet is shit not like the S+

example: a S+ door is about what 45 lbs built to last.. a AVP Door is about 20 lbs and junk..... don't lean on it while it's open...  I did oops bust gut laughing bust gut laughing

Junk in = Junk out AVP's are crap Founded (Si) Redd would roll over in his grave if he knew what the new IGT was putting out as game platforms.

Back in the day every piece of IGT glass used to say some where on it  "MADE WITH PRIDE IN NEVADA, U.S.A.

IGT In pursuit of the almighty dollar at any cost !! even pride has it's price !!!

Just my 2 cents

What would be that cause of the monitor problem that is causing it to go green like that - the monitor itself, the video card ?  I have had the same issue, but haven't had time to address it.  Now I would finally like to get my Odyssey back into its original shape.

With the lines in the screen as they are, I'd say it's monitor related, or could be more than one issue. I've seen a bad cable between the display output and monitor do exactly that.

I have seen IGT glass from the 1985-89 era that says "Made with Pride in NEVADA, U.S.A.".
Funny, same time Universal (a japanese co.) had the market share of 3-reelers in Vegas. Hmmm.

To all who read this: I'm looking to purchase an Odyssey machine in excellent to mint shape with no issues with possible topper and base cabinet. You can email me at myhwy111@dc.rr.com
I'm driving to Phoenix this Sunday to pick one up but looking to purchase another.

Slotmaster.....do you still have your "mint" Odyssey machine for sale that you posted on Jan 14th, '09??
