Wild thing !

« on: May 20, 2011, 08:05:15 PM »

Not mine, but a friend of mine has a s2000 that is dead as a door nail. The only thing that works at all is the inside work light (refrigerator). No MPU lights, no BV noise, not even the Fluorescent light in the door.  He has changed known good parts like.....

MPU
backplane processor
main power box
power supply behind the reels
power on/off switch

still nothing, I put his MPU in one of my machines and it works.  I do know when the problem occurred he was saying the spin reel button acted funny and might have came loose in the door.

any help for this guy ?

    thanks

SOunds as if the power supply is not getting 115vac to it.  you can check any plug that has a orange wire with a black/orange wire =+25vdc. or red wire with a black /red wire +13 vdc.  the +25vdc power all the flor. lamps.

If the power supply is good, then your problem has to be down in the units mounted to the backwall at the bottom.  the brownand blue wires carry the 115vac from here to the power supply.

Is there any chance that the power CORD could be bad ?  it is in a basement and maybe a mouse or poor installation might have damaged the cord.
I think he just bolted the machine down to a bench, maybe he pinched the wires...

Try a diffrent cord and also a diffrent wall receptacle.   !

Yeah, it's my Red White Blue again!
Last night I was playing it and decided to even out the credits when I quit. I hit bet 1, 2, 3 then hit the SPIN button not the BET MAX button and zzzzzztttttttt................

Been at it since then and I swapped out every thing it it with known good parts.
The last thing I did was just for kicks, I pulled the power cable off the motherboard while the power was on......... MY DOOR LIGHT CAME ON Scratch Head

I then proceeded ever so cautiously to plug the power cable back in with the light on and ZZZZZZTTTTT.......... again1 Scratch Head

Could it be a dead short somewhere????

HELP............. LOL

It's not a dead short unless you see smoke or smell something burning, or of course the , obvious flames and heat...

plug your big times pay into the same receptical, worth a try.

Try swapping the BV, make sure they both work.  It's a stab in the dark, but its can't hurt.

sway the bill can too, might be jamming, don't assume anything...

The CPU doesn't even need to be in the machine for the BV to cycle

My guess is that its your power distribution box .... not the power supply behind the reels but the box towards the bottom. Not hard to swap so I would try that.

There is a small circuit breaker on top and would check that also.    On the distribution box if u unplug the 6 or 8 pin molex on the top left, that is all you will get is the light so check that connection.

Good Luck

I do know that he has allmost a whole machine of mine over there swapping and fiddling around till his blood pressure is way up ...

Everything and everyone is pointing toward the lower power supply. I assume you don't have a meter handy, so do this.
Put the power suppy in question in your other machine (Big Times Pay) if it works there then you know its not that part.

It cant be the power supply. I have 3 power supplys. They all work in my BIG TIMES, none work in my RED/WHITE/BLUE  Scratch Head
I retract that........... they may be working, but the power isn't gettting where it's suppose to go.

Jim, it's not the end of the world  (that starts tomorrow)  If I don't get called up to heaven in the morning I will bring over a working machine in my truck and swap your glass and strips and get you a working machine.  So relax, watch some tv, have a beer, help is forth coming.
