It sounds like the connection between the backlight controller and cabinet I/O board is bad, but it would still have sounds if that were the case. Does it make any sound ever? And the fact that all the lights are on, but dim, is normal standby state for backlit reels. You weren't plugging and unplugging with the power on were you?

I Have sounds in the game, It just doent make any exciting sounds when it lands on a wild cherry or a 7, and none of the reels light up bright when they should. I have even replaced the i/o board and the back lit controller board. still nothing. I did not plug anything in while the machine was on. Should it just work after it is powered up and plugged in, or is there something else I have to do? I have all the cables pugged in where they should be, I even tried other cables...nothing.... Hummm

Ok, after about 3 weeks of tinkering around with this I FINALLY figured it out. I had to put different game 1 and 2 chips in. It seems only certain game chips work with the enhanced sound board and make the reels light up and make sounds when they hit a winning combination. I don't know why but its all in the game 1 and 2 chips on the MPU.

I had GME 1 & 2 sg000248 in the machine, I put in GME 1 & 2 SG000298 and the backlit reels came to life.
