I have a Super Stars Spin machine that is coinless, no hopper and no coin mechs. It also has a molex jumper sttached to where the comparitor harness would plug into. I have been playing it with no problems whatsoever until now I am gettin the error message "coin out jam" I have tried to open an close the door, tried the re-set key and the error will not go away. The only thing that I can think that could be wrong is that possibly the limits have been set too low or the ticket printer may not have been enabled and the machine is confused as to how to pay out? It was working fine until I got up to 848 credits and the machine is set a .25 if that helps any. I read a post similar to this and tried the "unplug the IO board with the machine off and plug it back up" and still no change. Any ideas?

Thanks,

David

Did you change a coin setting in the options menus?
Perhaps by accident?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure there's an option somewhere for a coinless machine?
I don't think you will be able to change it with credits still on the machine though.
I've never had a coinless slot ( It's not a slot machine anymore! I know...most machines don't take coins anymore...)
but that's what I would check first, then the coin mech bypass plug (re-seat the molex)

I have also tried re seating the molex connector, is there any solution to this problem without having to do a clear since there are credits on the machine?

Thanks

You might try swapping your door IO card with a known good one

If it's a single line button deck, yes. If it's a ten button deck, there will be 2, one on each side of that panel, and you should swap them both

Its a coin Out error - Its trying to pay out from a hopper that is not there. It may be that cashout was pressed or that machine went over its credit limit. If You dont have a hopper You will have to do a clear.

So I can install a hopper from another machine, let it drop the coins until all of the credits are gone? After that jst go back and check my settings under the limits section?

Ok, that sounds like an idea. After this, can another member her tell me what my limits settings should be for a coinless machine?

Hopper limit?

Jackpot limit?

Credit limit?

bill limit?

also, do I need a certain setting for partial pay or cashout?

This machine will be set up with a ticket printer but no hopper or coin mechs. Is there a way that if someone hits the dreaded cashout button that I can clear the credits with the reset key or will it have to payout from the printer only?

Thanks,

David

As Bunker mentioned there is a coinless setting in there somewhere. If  you set Your creditlimit to zero it should lock up for any cahout and You can just key it off. (Unless domestic base SW has limitations I am not aware of)

This is strange...I don't have the correct documentation for the coinless mode because my sheet says
that you would need to have the machine set up using the SAS controller...>>>

3.2.5 Coinless Mode (Option: [7.2.5])
Use the Coinless option to enable or disable coinless mode. When the
machine is in coinless mode, the hopper and coin acceptor are
disabled. All money-in and money-out handling is is performed via
EFT transactions.
Note: The coinless mode can only be enabled when the machine is
connected to a SAS controller.
Use the following steps to enable or disable coinless mode:
1. Navigate through the list of values using the CHANGE and
CASH/CREDIT switches.
2. Press the PLAY MAX CREDITS switch to exit the screen and save
the changes, or press the SPIN REELS switch to reset the value to
the previous setting.

I will look around for the more appropriate documentation as I don't have it on hand at the moment.
You might want to check your "Hand-Pay" settings in the Machine Options.

I have no idea?
Think about it...if you set it too high and somebody hits the "Cash Out" button before you've reached the set limit
and the printer isn't set right - you're back to square one.

I'd make sure that you have the printer enabled when the "Cash Out" button is depressed.
That way, the printer can handle anything.
Try removing any limitations on the printer so it will print a ticket whenever the "Cash-Out" button circuitry is closed.

Open the door, press the little white Test button.
Now partially close the door and rest it against the latch that's already in the down position.
This way you won't activate the door optics.

Look at your blue VFD screen and go into the menus using the cash out and spin buttons.
Look for the printer setup in the menus...
Once you find the printer menu, press the spin button to enter it and see what options you have.
The first thing you should check is to see if indeed the printer is "enabled".
Does your printer work now?

First off there are two situations here.

The coin out error... Could still be an IO card as they are all part of the senet system. Dont forget to check the one on the chasis. And if that is the problem then putting in a hopper will not help, the error will remain because it was not the problem in the first place.

Second did your printer work before? If it did then there is no reason to make it lock up for every cashout, that is unless you never want it to print a ticket. If you set the printer limit to 0 and the hopper limit to 0 then it will lock up after every cashout.

Jackpot limit will make it lock up for a single win. If the limit is $1000 lets say then any win of $1000 or more will instantly trigger a handpay.

Credit limit should be high and bill limit is at what point (number of credits in the machine) do you want the acceptor to stop taking bills (set it high also).

Oh and I forgot to mention you should make sure that all of the IO cards are seated properly as they can work their way out through heat cycles and such.
