Title: Backlit Reel Power cable/harness - New Information Provided
Post by: John0813 on October 31, 2009, 12:27:57 PM
I have all the parts to install backlit reels into my my Haywire Deluxe Machine except a power cable connecting the controller (J3 - plug..I think) to the main power supply.

Does anyone know where I can purchase one?

Thanks in advance,

John

You would have to buy a new machine power distribution harness since it goes from the Power supply to the controller directly
I looked at the wiring diagram to be sure
You can make one it is a 2x3 Molex Mini-Fit Jr white connector

Pin -- Voltage or Ground -- Wire Colors
1 -- 25 V Orange
2 -- 13 V Red
3 -- NC
4 -- B Ground Black with orange stripe
5 -- A Ground Black with red stripe
6 -- NC

NC -- no connection

Tap into the same colors in the power connector for the mother board.
That is what I did and it works fine

HOW ABOUT A SOURCE FOR A POWER DISTRIBUTION HARNESS/CORD THAT IS ALREADY MADE?

John,  Try Jim at blueridge.  The j-3 plug.  I will have to go look at mine.  If you were dealing with a s-2000 that was never equipped back-lit the pwr harness is and should be wire-tied to the harness in the upper right top portion of the bottom cab.  That is what powers the back-lit controller board if that is what you were asking- :103-.  Hope that helps.  Barry. -I will go chk and verify.  You do have your i/o cable from i/o to backlit contoller  there-?.  Trying to help-Barry.

John,  Looked at one of mine and verified. j-3 plug is power and if you have a authenic s-2000 it is there.  Igt included this option up-grade even with their non-back-lit games.  I had gotten at least 6-7 quite a time ago that were born non-back-lit and had to snip the wire-tie and pull down the connector for j-3 pwr for the back-lit board.  Orange, black, red and black orange-4-wire in a 6-pin molex connector-B.

My Power Supply - IGT APS MODEL MCP-8011.....I trace the wiring harness and do not see a plug to fit the J3 connector?

Can a new harness/power cable be used between the motherboard and the J3 Plug??

PV1 Game SG000312 9F1
PV3 Base SB 001000 FDDE
PV10 SS6412

I have included two photos of the inside of my machine.

Anything else????  Just let me know....

Thanks,

John

Had A vision ready before and had to do what foster mentioned above and that's get a molex plug that fits the controller and tap the wires into a power source location of your choice in the machine. On your backplane board ,lower right is the main power feed and I taped my power and ground from there or you can run wires straight up and try a place at the power supply.

Someone made a harness for the Vision that plugs into the Mother Board where the printer normally does,
which eliminates any splicing. Of course IF you have a printer this will not work.

And as usual I can not remember who that was. :25- :25- :25-

How soon do we forget, once upon a time before deregulation (or legalized slot part prostitution, ie whoring) there were people willing to go the extra step and make it easy for one to not have to put any effort into making something that was never supposed to done possible, now are the days of people buying the bargains and whom they buy from unwilling to do more than put the item in a box an ship it out, just hoping it makes it, then when they get no response for assistance they search for some dumb ass willing to listen and help out when they can, but being impatient they think it will speed things up by calling 2-4 times a day and forwarding emails 2-5 times a day about the thing needed to help out that the person who sold them the item they are trying to install wouldn't help them with, now I ask you if at your full time job a customer requested something never factory made and it took say a billable half hour to fabricate (but really 3/4 to 1 hour invested) how much should one charge, I wonder what an auto dealer would charge say for a harness to add a switch to a vehicle for a tow hitch light to the back bumper, or to add a flashing light on top of a construction vehicle, I often wake up at night and wonder what the guys selling those bargain slots as is to people tell them when they need some parts, as I see many looking for parts but never machines, I wish someone will tell me so I can rest easier,

Anyway in the early days of the site before the founding members had true S-2000 with backlit reels there was a guy selling Brand New Backlit reel kits, and even some 3+1 Bonus reel setups, while pricey compared to now, they were new and many here bought their first set from that place, even some got special I/O cards where no modifications were needed to the harnesses to add the 4th reel, although not shipped next day, there was no reason to be mad after the box arrived, and those who didn't want to tap into the power harness were offered a simple power harness to make the backlit reels work, without any effort or thought, and when they bought the kit they got every screw, fastener, and factory hardware required, I am stumped at why boogie rigging is OK when getting less than all the required stuff at a bargain price

So here is my question, how much is a item worth if not available used or new from a factory and takes a person with non common hand tools and parts (but not unobtainable) say 1/2 - 3/4 hour to make plus parts? please advise

Here is a Harness that will do what is being requested, new ends, terminals and wire, factory color coded wire and tested to know working and how it could be hooked up without splicing

Very nice harness Jim, I value time and like to have professional looking harnesses like yours, that way there's no worries down the road. I've always been more than happy with the parts I get from you.   I'll call you after work tomorrow regarding this harness.

Thanks,
Wayne

Jim,  I am with you on your post and your good quality parts you have,  Especially when you have to hand build them and correctly coler code them-Hats Off and K+ once again.  I do this often for my diesel customers but they PAY me for the mods/add ons/fabrication etc. and are very happy with the end result as I do not turn out shoody work or junk there.  They expect to get what they paid for and "as-is" does not exist in that particular service on ANY of my repairs/services.  I have had to build my own harnesses here also at times and some of them are tedious to construct,  I do however and had and still do invest in the tools/equipment to do this properly and it is not cheap either.  Luckely for me the connectors, molex, wiring etc. is used in automotive/manufactures harnesses.  Thus my investment -and again it is expensive-I can do any crimp, terminal, etc. My hobbies have benifited from it.  I do not sell my work on these -as I do not have the time.  My appreciation for your contributions here is again appriciated.  Thanks Barry.

Jim has always sold stuff that works, and includes the small extra things to make purchase ready for use.

Things I have purchased from Jim.

S2000 502 MPU with tray, extras included spare battery and standoffs for the MMLB2
New belly door cables also included wire clamps to keep the cables from being damaged by belly door.
S2000 Back Lit Reel Kit, included all hardware and cabling to install kit properly.
DSV 42, no extra needed.

Yes I will gladly do business with Jim, Barry TopHat, April Lemans69, Dave Slotmaster,  IdyleWild again

Follow-up Question.....

Could a printer power harness off the J14 motherboard connector be used as the base wiring for a har ness like Jim made.

With some rewiring...could it work in the backlit connector J3...just a dumb question???????????????

If someone could possibly locate the connector pin-outs and
a good clear high-resolution photo of this harness John0813 is looking for -
I will order the parts needed and make him a brand new one.
