Not to take away from the article's main point but I see a little tidbit about the old "horse race" machine that takes quarters, nice to see it's still there and a fan favorite. It's AWESOME!

It will be intersting to see what happens when the 20+ year old lithium battery gives up the ghost.

Yeah, I liked the mention of the Sigma horse racing game too! The "D" casino downtown also has the Sigma horse racing game upstairs along with IGT S+ Flip-Flop and a Loose Deuces nickle poker that has a generous paytable, something like 101% theoretical payback. Cool old school games!

It's not even an IGT S+ game...is it?
I'm thinking it's some "clone" of another game.

The game ("Lion's Share") was created by Mikohn Gaming.  It's similar to Wild Cherry (where the top award symbol is wild and pays on or within one stop of the payline), but it doesn't quite match any Wild Cherry paytables that I've seen.

It uses a 16mhz board, and the reel strips (and reels) are a little wider than standard S+ reels.

Modified Wild Cherry isn't it.?  Top Awards are modified.

The Wild Cherry Program was used often on the Car and Motorcycle Top Award Progressive Style machines in the S+ era

oops, I posted as you were posting Kevin, Wide reels were common at MGM, they had old movie film looking strips with the cog holes on a bunch of games I got one time

Aah, neat tidbit.  It's a shame that most of the Vegas casinos have been "de-themed" and are just generic modern looking casinos.  Half the fun of visiting the different casinos was to see the different themes in them.

Whats funny about the article that NO ONE is picking up on is that this bonus (which is supposed to pay off any day now) hasn't paid off in over 20 years... NO ONE is covering (the odds)  that side of the coin.  Not the best news coverage for a specialized slot experience... the odds of it finally hitting, one could estimate would be unlimited..... if it ever did it.

But, I also did read somewhere else that Nevada law does allow the progressive to be moved to another slot.  Has anyone ever seen this happen in a casino... is there a sign placed in front of the slot, pointing to the new slot where you can find the old progressive... just curious.

Wonder why MGM doesn't try and have IGT bring (or purchase) some older machines and bring them back up online and connect to the progressive to help to see if they could win the amount faster???

Why would MGM try harder to cut loose with over $2M???  :103- Think of all the $$$ that are stuck in other machines when the Lion's Share is being played? If I were the Slot Mgr, I'd have all my tightest machines around the Lion's Share machine due to the lurkers! We've all seen it on popular machines, people will hang around the area trying to wait out the current player so that they can have a turn on the popular machine.
