Hello!

I recently bought my first machine and along with having endless fun playing it, I am fascinated by the internals every time I open it up to empty the hopper.

That leads me to one insignificant question about it--I've searched the internet for hours and can't find any information.

The machine is an upright $1 PURE PLEASURE and the front and sides are gold plated.

Is there anything remarkable about the plating, aside from the fact that it is probably unbelievably thin? Inside the machine is a sticker that reads "Gold Plated by Celebrity Inc. Oct 1997." I guess I'm asking if there is any additional value in this machine because of it, or if these machines are big enough that the amount of gold used to plate is measurable.

If nothing else, the combination of way too much purple is even more apparent in contrast of all the gold!

Thanks for any info,

Rob

(This is my first time on this forum and I'm amazed by the amount of information here!)

Actually gold plated? That's quite unusual. Can you post a picture or two?

These aren't the best pictures, but my camera doesn't like the all the light that is radiating from the machine! I get the best pics from the inside since all the exterior pictures just came out black. There is one that I took near the coin tray, you can see where most of the "gold" has worn off but the whole upper control panel and pull handle was gold at one time.

One of my machines is like that -- I don't know if it has that sticker or not -- but I doubt it's actual gold.  Some of the more upscale casinos would order them with that coating on the metal to make them look nicer.

I don't think that looks like the factory gold finish, because the factory gold color is not gold plate and I always thought it had a look like it was almost peeling when it would start to wear.

I'm pretty familiar with Celebrity, though, and I'm pretty sure they're not in business any more or at least not gold plating hood ornaments and emblems for cars. Back in the day, there were more than a few hot rod shops that used them to gold-plate parts, mostly for the show cars. I wonder if a casino owner had them plate a bunch of machines for a property?
