Title: New Pachinko owner - Final Battle - Many questions
Post by: PinballWiz on January 14, 2009, 11:16:13 PM
I just bought a Final Battle pachinko game and have a few questions...

There is a single digit LED above the LCD screen that cycles very quickly.  Sometimes it shows an 'H', sometimes a '-'.  What does this display mean?

There are two pockets labeled 'GATE'.  When a ball goes thru there, currently nothing happens.   This leads to the next point...

There is a secret door labeled 'Final Battle'.  This door never seems to open.  Is this supposed to be triggered by a ball going into the ''GATE' pocket above?

There are very few lights lit on the playfield.  Is this supposed to be the case?

I managed to find a switch that turns the volume down, but not down far enough.  Any instructions on how to lower the volume more?

Thank you for all the help!!

Rob

Thanks, Jay

I will post over there as well.  For everything else, you folks have always done well with me.  Hopefully someone here (or there) will have some decent information to help me.

I don't know the machine you have, so forgive me if I stray.

But, on modern Pachinkos there is usually a "box" on the playfield that the ball can drop through that doesn't collect the ball. These have a magnetic sensor that detects when the ball passes through it. These usually trigger a series of symbols to light in succession and then stop "randomly". These lights can be right on or near the drop box or somewhere else on the machine, and can vary from just two symbols to several. What usually happens is that if the "winning" symbol gets selected, it opens the wings for about two seconds on the one hole (or perhaps two) that has wings protecting it. Usually, this hole is another way to initiate the "spin" game on the LCD, in addition to the center hole that is always open. Although "random", the selection is virtually weighted so that it almost never lands on the winning symbol. That would explain why nothing seems to happen.

Is the "Final Battle" a large door about 2 1/2" long near the bottom center of the playfield? If so, it is the jackpot hole; it opens for the bonus jackpot round when you hit the jackpot on the LCD.

The Single LED might be related to the credit system that is disabled for home use. When active, it displays the number of ball credits the player has. There is usually a button or two that would be used to redeem credits when the machine was in use in a Pachinko parlor. A guy on the Pachitalk site hacked the code on the machines and sells a dongle that can be attached to the computer on the back to re-enable this feature. They even had credit cards and a card reader that can be programmed! I never bought one but it looked pretty cool.

If there is already a volume switch (switches??) and it's not giving you the volume you want, you might need to install some pots. The Pachitalk site should be able to help you with the specific ohmage etcetera for the pot(s). Have you checked to see if you've found all of the volume switches? There is usually one for each speaker (usually two, but can be three).

Finally, the main playfield often has few lights, but there should be lots of lights that go around the outside of the playfield (on the door). These will light up to a different degree for different machines, but they usually are the most active when you enter the jackpot bonus round, and also when a "spin" in the LCD comes "close" to winning.

Hope this helps. You could always post a picture or three. :79-

A good reliable and fair minded source for volume controls is Vince Mattione. His email is bizmattione@hotmail.com. He also sells the auto stop and auto stop credit mods for Pachislo machines. Join Pachi Talk and just read the posts and threads. I joined in 2004 and I have learned something new almost every time I go to the site. They are friendly just like this site, so don't be shy in asking questions. PM me if you have any questions. I have 20 Pachislos and  14 Pachinkos.

You may note that Pachitalk is absent any threads on how to convert the machines to quarters. They get very particuar about anything to convert the machines into gaming machines. Pachislo and Pachinko don't have the same restrictions on them except in California.

LOL...Just happen to look in this section. My first slot was "Wail Pulsar" (something like that  :72- ) . i still have it,somewhere  :103-. Anyway,I REFUSE using tokens for any of my games ,so I switched it to quarters, which took awhile to tweak.

What a happy state to be in! You must not have any teenagers in your house. I had to switch my games to tokens to avoid all the hopper contents turning into :150- :168- :167-  :29- :67- :134-

:97- :72- I hadn't thought about that....my kids are 2, 4, & 6 but I see those days as a possibility  :89- although it's hard to say what machines I'll own at that time. (TITO anyone?)
