Hi,
I am calculus314. I bought the glass from Central Valley Slots. I recently purchased my first slot machine. I decided to get a couple extra games since it is Christmas time. I saw the games on Ebay and they looked good. I asked if these fit an S+ and was told yes. I knew I had an S+.  No size was ever asked, such as, What size S+ do you have? I realize that everyone here is very knowledgeable about the sizes, but I am not. No sizes were ever stated in the ad. So in good faith, I bought them. Now, I have been selling on Ebay for 15 years and know the value of descriptions. If someone was ordering a head gasket and said "does this fit a Chevy"? I wouldn't just say yes. I would say this only fits a 6 cylinder or a 4 cylinder. But regardless. He is here to "warn" you to watch out for me. At the same time whining that he has to "absorb the shipping" Lets get to the truth. Just for the first kit, I PAID $19 return shipping. You get your glass back, you lose no money. You even get your Ebay fee back. I lose $19. That's just the first one. To act like this is what I want to do is order something that doesn't fit, then spend my own money to send it back. No, that isn't anybodys goal. But if you feel better telling the forum some untruths like you absorbed ANY shipping then go ahead. Your character is showing. I have since checked other kit dealers in Ohio and on their websites, they ALWAYS show what size their glass fits.  Hail

 NLG Welcome

I certainly don't see that on eBay... perhaps you would have been better off not trying to jump into the 'Bay right off and used one of those websites you speak of, or done a little research here before you started buying.  Nerd the problem is, you didn't ask the right question. no

I've never mistaken a 16" top glass for a 9" top glass, the 16" is almost twice as big as the 9. Even if I didn't know there were 2 sizes, I'd be able to tell something was fishy just looking at the pictures.  arrow

To go to your car analogy, that's like you asking if the head gasket would fit a small block Chevy and the seller said yes, but you failed to tell him it was a 400 small block. Your scenario is more like asking him if the kit fits an IGT... Crazy

The good thing is, you probably won't have any problem selling those game kits, or even just selling the 16" top glass and buying the 9" top glass for the same game! yes Or you could  buy a 16" slot to put next to your 9"... the possibilities are endless!  Dancing Party Dancing Party

The first kit was sent back at my expense. I have the second kit and am getting ready to spend more money on return shipping while the seller(Central Valley Slots ) loses nothing. Unless somebody has an American Beauty top glass for a 9" Igt S+ Flat top. There can be no size mistake with just that small statement. So easy to add.

Calculus,

I never expect to see glass measurments in an Ebay ad.  Seriously, most all of us know which glass it is with a quick glance.  Sorry about your problems in your foray in to slot machines, this is how we learn sometimes.  Lord knows I have learned plenty through my own mistakes.

Please take it easy on Ros, she really goes out of her way to help us all.  I see her as one of the best vendors.  Hope everyone is happy in the end.

I have bought both 9" and 16" machines.
For every kit I have bought both top glasses.
Frank at casino glass out of Vegas sells glass at 60/sheet.
One option is to buy another machine and keep the kits.

Networking the slots with linked progressives is fun.

If you want to run your business by only showing pictures and giving no sizes, That's your business. If you do you will have more problems. Many people that buy do not know everything. I know, I have sold 4 times as many things on Ebay as CVslots ever has. But if you feel that costing me money for the return is going to be good for your feedback, guess again. There must be a reason that you think your lack of size listed is better than all the big boys from Ohio. With that, I wish you a Merry Christmas!

Calculus
I do have to side with CVSlots on this one
shortly after I got my first S+ I could tell the 3 popular upright award glass sizes by looking at them
hint the belly glass is larger than 9" top glass
In eBay picture they will appear to be about the same size.

I have two tops for my S2000 so I can use 9" and Round Top, I got the Round Top box so I could use my S+ kits in it without looking for 9" glass for that kit.
I no longer have a S+ but I have seen some that you could easily change the top box on them.
This might be an option for your S+ You have to look at the inside of the top box and the laminate to see if you can easily change the tops as needed.
if you can it would take less than 10 minutes to change the top box on a S+  there is only 3 harnesses in the top box of a S+
Takes me about 15 minutes change out my S2000 top box and I have to undo about 10 connectors and move the topper as well.

I also gotta side with Roslyn...   True; the size of the glass wasn't listed.   Calculus asked If the glass will work with an S+ ..... There was no mention of the size of the glass from either party.    I understand that Calculus is new to the hobby and probably wasn't aware that there are 3 sizes of top glass; but new hobbiest or not, the pic was there and she did correctly anywer your question.   ..... I've read all the posts and it's not worth getting this upset over the $19.   Calculus; I realize that it's the principle not the money, but I have been on this site for several years and can vouch for Roslyn being both, a great e-bay seller and a genuinely nice person.  Try to make an attempt to not let your anger over feeling that you've  been  wronged get the best of you...  At best ; it was miscommunication by both parties...... and leave it at that.   On the bright side; you'll make you're $19 back ten-fold by getting parts and kits from sellers on this site over e-bay....... and you'll make a few friends along the way.   Good luck, Bill

I think what most of the community has been trying to tell you is that there were lots of options before having to escalate to Ebay.
We're you ever refused a refund ? You whine about being out the cost for return shipping and threaten negative feedback.

If you consider your refund has a component of the shipping in it as well,  The seller is out some cash in this transaction as well. There was never any intent to deceive. By your own admission you say other ebay sellers list the glass sizes - this is the research you undertook after the fact. Overall $18 seems to me to be a fairly cheap education. If you can get over the feeling of being singled out for persecution for a few moments you will find out that this is a welcoming communitity for which to conduct research ask questions and learn from others.

What you may not realize is that the reason this site started is that there was NO source of information on slits at all for the home user. There were some professional forums around - but once they determined that you had no Casino affiliation you were either ignored or simply given the boot. You don't really want to focus on the negative. As others have said - participate, ask questions, and share your learnings with the community.

I once bought a Mikohn Supercontroller for $600 - found out it was not the "I" version - which I needed to be compatible with IGT. Heck I didn't even consider that there might have been different versions of the unit at the time. Shipping was $65 to Canada. On the next trip to vegas i threw the unit into my carry on, rented a car and drove it out to bull head. i ended up donating the unit to the site so they could raise money for hosting fees.  .

You mentioned there was more than one kit bought. 16" and round top glass is more desireable than 9" due to the greater real estate for artwork. Compared to some auctions it sounds like you got a deal. You could relist the kit on eBay for a higher min. Who knows you might even make a buck or two.

I am going to unsubscribe now. I see no need to continue. I just had to address the untruth. Like saying they absorbed any shipping. 100% lie! Please feel free to attack me, I won't be here or care! bust gut laughing

I have removed some of the more negative posts as this is not how we like to roll on this site.
No offence to anyone was intended by the removal of the posts
I have helped calculus unsubscribe.
As the thread is entitled - seller beware of this buyer.
