Title: Game King CRT to LCD conversion
Post by: 4 Deuces on November 24, 2013, 10:02:59 PM
Hello,

What I have is ... 17" CRT on 3902 board.

What I want to do is ...
  • Remove CRT from metal casing.
  • Leave existing IGT touchscreen board on metal casing.
  • Install LCD on metal casing (will take some creative mounting).
  • Splice the wires coming from the 19-pin monitor plug into two harnesses: a DB-15 monitor cable and separate power cable (using IGT schematic).

I read this post ...
http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=5607.msg49001#msg49001 (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=5607.msg49001#msg49001)

And this post ...
http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=382.0 (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=382.0)

And I think I'm trying to do something in between.  I don't want to buy a kit because I already have the monitors.

Has anyone tried this at home?  Is it that "easy" (relatively speaking to a dummy like me)? :103-

I should add that my LCD monitor is a 17" Ceronix 1705 with a 3M Touchscreen board (I was going to bypass that and attach the harness directly to the IGT board ... same white plug harness).

Dave I have a couple of brand new 17" ceronix LCDs 19 pin, if I ship you one on loan will that tell you everything you need to know ?? I bought them from Ceronix last year and they have never been mounted to the metal frame work (chassis ), I can send everything of just the screen with the touch screen. ( Bigger box higher shipping )   :103- :103-

I'll bet if you call Ceronix they will sell you just the 17" metal chassis. I know they have them made locally because I had my trailer backed in next to a Bob tail truck that was unloading some chassis and Don the owner of Ceronix came out and said something to the effect that Walt had sent him some more chassis then he said "Oh shit that is Walt" Don jumped in the truck shaking Walt's hand and left no doubt they were old friends.

I'll think I'll start with calling Ceronix and see what they can do.  I also emailed a local guy (MrJimSr on Ebay) to see if he's got any.  I'll post back what I found out this week.  Thanks for the quick reply!

btw ... got the stuff yesterday (thank you).  Will try loading each and see what sticks with me and return the extra set.  Thanks again!  :Dave

Follow-up ... looks like Ceronix can make this work.  I'm convinced they can do anything.

Calling Ceronix was definitely the best route for me.  They got me exactly what I needed to get my LCDs working.

Since this thread has already been read over 200 times in its short life, I thought I would reference another thread that also answers this challenge.
