I'm getting an Assertion Failed error on iGame 3902 board.

A few weeks ago my iGame was working fine and then all of the sudden I get this error, "Assertion Failed."

After much frustration which included installing a new set of eproms I changed to a different game.
The problem went away.

Last night I fired up the game and I get an assertion failed error.
That's 2 different games and the same error.

I'm beginning to think that there is an intermittent problem on my 039 processor board.

Any body know what this, "assertion failed," error is?

On the S2000 (reel) platform it is caused by using the wrong (or corrupt) SG chips. The error is typically followed by a @ and a line number at which the program "failed". Others have talked about the socketed EPROMs failing as well, but all of the documented fixes led back to using the incorrect SG chips.

Sorry, no help, I know, but maybe it will spark a thought???

Thanks for your reply.   I've tried everything, replacing eproms, switching mpu's,etc.

If you switched software, and switched MPUs, then it almost has to be in the Motherboard/Back Plane wouldn't you think?

Eric,

A shot in the dark here, but have you tried changing the EEPROM on the motherboard????

If that has no effect, at least you got a  Bump

 I Agree  Kinda where I was going with the motherboard thing. I figured that is the only other component that stores anything software related (or I guess the only other component that stores anything period).

I think you both are right. I was going to try and replace the eeprom, but it is soldered in.
This particular machine is circa 1999 and is the 1st generation GameKing with the deep i/O tray.
It doesn't have the motherboard like the S2000. Unfortunately, I don't have one of those motherboards to swap out.

Eric  I don't have a extra mother board, but I can rob one out of a machine and send it to you for test of your machine. We are talking about  a machine that has a big ass IO tray that goes right below the monitor.

The mother board is pretty easy to get out. Remove the monitor as there are plugs at the top of the mother board.

There is a old thread I posted, I had a Game King with a touch screen error, turned out I had two different mother boards ( two machines) with exactly the same trace burned in exactly the same location on both of them. I soldered in a jumper wire on both of them and as for as I know both machines are still working. I may still have one of them I'm not sure.
