Wow, those bring back some good memories of high school.

We had 2 drive-ins in this area: Capitol (which is still in business) and Moonlight (on El Camino Real in Santa Clara, that land was too valuable to let it stay a drive-in).

but I cannot remember the last time I saw one still in operation.

Ya love the drive in's
We still have one here. During the day it operates as the second largest tourist attraction in Florida as the Swap Shop.
Then at night it reverts back to the 18 screen drive-in. Always liked to load up the lounge chairs in the back of the pick-up with a cooler of beer and go watch a movie.
Then early on Sunday morning you could go back and see if you could find anything you couldn't live without from the flea market.
They use to also have a Circus and the elephants were out back. Nothing like the smell of elephant dung in the morning air mixed with barf and urine. stir the pot / get cooking no
Sometimes you can even find a slot machine there for a reasonable price.  yes
