MTV caused their own death with the advent of teen/tween reality TV series, ie. Real World, Road Rules, Singled Out, Loveline, Jackass, Undressed, Tom Green, etc. As a matter of fact The Weather Channel is currently on life support thanks to stupid serial shows like full force nature, it could happen tomorrow among other local weather blockers.

Okay boys and girls, what other song has the same exact melody (same notes and rhythm), note for note, as sung in the phrase "I want my, I want my, I want my Emm Tee Vee"?
It's even in the same key! I'll post the video in a little while.. stir the pot / get cooking I always end up singing the other song to Dire Straits.
I've made this pretty easy by spelling out the exact phrase for you. propeller

I remember those "I want my MTV" commercials when MTV 1st came out.
I did not know "Video Killed The Radio Star" was the 1st video played on MTV though.
You don't have to look too far to see how much things change over a generation.
