The remix with the soundtrack song Mad World is sadder and accentuates the negative repercussions of striving to fulfill one's dreams at any cost. It is still beautiful, even if it isn't from the original animator and changes the message. The slightly lighter-hearted original is poignant and certainly was meant to focus on the positive side of living life to the fullest.

<ADD> One could make a similar comparison between the original 1982 release (a bit tongue-in-cheek) and the 2001 remake of the song as well.

Okay, here's another remix in which the editor sought to create an uplifting story with a happy ending. Notice that the video is unchanged. What this illustrates, IMO, is the power of music and the soundtrack in a any film, animated or otherwise.

Of course, by making it a G rated "uplifting" film, this editor completely destroys the intent of the author.
