Hi all,

Total noob here.  I just purchased my Game Maker last night.  It is still sitting in the garage on a wheeled platform till I can beg-borrow a appliance dolly to get it into the basement.

I was playing last night, and I noticed that my favorite game “Draw Poker” (know otherwise as Jacks Or Better) has a max bet of 50 coins.  The other games like Deuces Wild have a max bet of 5 coins more typical of what I am used to seeing at a casino out of a quarter machine.

I started looking for answers through Google, and that’s how I came to this site.  I started looking through this site, and downloaded the manual from the files section.  I see an option where you can set the min/max bets in the setup screen, but from the best that I can tell, you can only get to this setup by doing a safeRAM clear.  And for this, you may (or may not) need a clear EPROM.  Some models do need one, some don’t.

My questions:

1) How do I know if my machine needs a clear EPROM to perform the safeRAM clear?

2) I guess first things first…..how I do I know what model Game Maker I even have??  I have seen model numbers like 7000 and 7200 being thrown around, but I took a look around my machine, and did not see either number printed anywhere.

3) I assume that clearing the safeRAM will let me set the max coins to 5 for this Draw Poker game?  Is there another way to adjust the “max coins” setting, or is the safeRAM clear the only way to do this?

4)  I saw in one of the manuals that Draw Poker can be set up with different odds (8/5, 8/6, 9/6, etc..)   Can I do that through some kinda menu?  Or do I need a whole new EPROM to do that?

Thanks for helping a noob.  I cant wait to get more involved with this Game Maker, and hopefully contribute to this community.

Thanks,
Fat Johnny

fat-johnny,

First of all, Welcome to the site. I'll try to answer most of your questions.

1. You need a clear chip to do a saferam clear.

2. If bill access is on side of machine it's a 7000, if you have to open the door to retrieve bills it's a 7200, unless it's a slant top. You can also measure cabinet and compare with manual as different models have different measurements(height).

3. Yes, a saferam is required to change max bet.

4  Different payouts for same game requires different game chip.

Fat Johnny,

You need the P10 clear this gets you into the game programs. Also the chip that runs the game can be changed to raise or lower the pay back percentage.

OK, update.  I finally got around to ordering the RAM clear chip.  I peformed the safeRAM clear, and could only set the max bet on one of the games.........until I realized I had some global setting called "MAX WAGER" (or something like that) set to "disabled" and $9,999.99.  Once I set that global setting to $1.25, it set the MAX BET for my draw poker game to 5 credits (quarters).  Woo-hoo!!

Now my dismay.  I found that I have some weird chip for draw poker, where the payout is only 89%.  The SMI says it is P7500, but I cannot find any info on this chip anywhere on this forum or on the web.  See pic:

My questions are:
1) How the hell are these values so damn low?!?!?  Has anybody seen this P7500 chip before?!?
2) I assume I can change the chip to P0005 or P0006 or P0007 to get a more "normal" game, like 8/6 Jacks Or Better (JOB), or 8/5, or maybe even 9/6.  Is that correct?
3) Where can I buy such a chip?  I googled "Bally gamemaker EPROM chips" and came up pretty empty.
4) I remember seeing a single sheet for each game, with the different SMI numbers on it, explaining the different payouts.  Currently, all I can find is individual sheets for each SMI number.  Anyone have or can direct me to the single sheet for "Draw Poker"?

Am I on the right track??  All I wanna do is practice up for Vegas by playing some 8/5, 8/6. or 9/6.
Thanks for your help,
FJ

ps......I just found the Gamemaker master SMI list on this site, dated 2/28/2006.  I cannot find my "Draw Poker" SMi of P7500, and I also cannot find the blackjack SMI (see picture) of J7500.  ANd I find it wierd that the EPROM picture above lists the blackjack game at 0.00%    Any ideas??

Interesting,

You should play the blackjack game. According to the payback percentage listed, you can NEVER win.................NEVER arrow

I read those as P7005 and J7005. The 7XXX chips appear to be unique. Some of the Pokers are 8 and 10 max bet, but a max payout of 4000 for Royal. I can find no PAR sheets for these. Hard to tell. What is the paytable for your poker P7005 with max bet?

Many of the vendors at the top of this page can provide you some of the the game percentages you are looking for. Maybe if you post what paytables you are looking for, an email or PM may happen.
