Welcome to  nlg.

You must have some happy switches ("cheery").   Tongue Out

You can ignore the magnetic drop door sensor -- you don't need that to operate the game.

The main hatch should have an optical sensor rather than a cherry switch (an optical transmitter and receiver -- one mounted on the hatch door, and one fixed in the machine -- they line up when the hatch door is completely closed.  I'm not positive about the other doors as to how they're wired in as I have a bartop PE+ and not a slant top, so there's different wiring involved.  Are you stuck with a door open error?  The more information you can provide, the better for us to be able to help you.

i got the game ,it said door open coin time out, door switches disconnected, would not self test. i removed processor board and found one burnt triax and bad diode, replaced both and than i could enter self test but still had door open issues. and now it says door open, call attendant, cmos data. the machine has no optics only Cherry switches. one on player button door, one on lower door, one on top door next to where b v would mount.so if someone could tell me how to wire or by pass all switches. i traced all the wires as follows, player pannel switch=yellow/blk gos to a conector and splice to yell/rd to change sw and one to candel light on top of mech/// solid yellow to.conn& splits to gray/rd to change sw/ and two blu/gre one  to hold234,etc. and one to motherbord conn.j3 ..and one rd/blu to moth.bord plug j7 and one rd/blu to top pannel sw.... the lower door sw has two wires  one green go to moth.bord connector j5////  other is brown/wt to moth bord j5 connector...... top pannel switch has one green to moth bord j5 conn. one green to b v if one was there. two reds spliced one to player pannel door switch and one stops by self test sw. and one rd/wt to  b v... please help  and thank you.

Can you take good pictures of the back of the cherry switches with the wires connected?
Have you ran a continuity test on the switches to check if they are in good operation?
Do you have a wiring diagram for your machine?

I've never seen a working PE+ that didn't have door optics, and I don't know how to bypass them.  My best advice would be to obtain a set of working slant top PE+ optics and wire them in, as the machine is likely expecting to have a pulsing optic signal to know when the door is closed.  I suspect someone replaced the optics with a cherry switch and then couldn't get the door open message to clear.

Hi There

It is possible to bypass the optics but rather keep it original. I have run into problems with mods before. It sounds like you had power problems - Have you checked all the fuses.
I have some in the warehouse at the moment but waiting for screens to come back. Will check for you when they are back.

I recommend you clear the CMOS data error before you go any further.  Hold the self test button in for 5 seconds until you hear  a ding. Close the door and see if the errors go away.

If not, do the same thing again but turn the jackpot reset key once  after you hear the ding. Close the door.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear -- I meant that I haven't seen one that doesn't have any optics in it.  I understand that some have cherry switches in-line with the optics for some of the doors.  You are saying that your slants all have one set of optics (plus the cherry switches), right?

Some of them have had the Cheery switch removed, but the bracket is still there, which kind of tells me the cheery was installed at one time. I should be ashamed to post a Pic. of such a dirty machine. It's been sitting for a couple of years.

Are you saying that some machines had just a cherry switch (no optics at all), or that they had it in addition to the set of optics?  I see an optic half in that picture...

Every one of them have a set of optics. Some have optics and a cherry switch.

Bunker posted this  http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=8683.msg74797#msg74797  the other day. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work on a PE/PE+

Matt-

 Congratulations

...on getting your machine up and running!   Clap

I've never seen a PE+ without door optics -- glad you were able to figure yours out.
