I know that there is not a lot of info out there yet on these, but does anyone happen to have a manual for one?

Thanks,

Rob

What would you like to know other than inserting the chips where printed on the board?

I have had them for several years now, and I have never found any documentation on them!  frying pan frying pan frying pan

They are supposed to be faster and they called them the "high speed" enhanced 2000 MPU board, but I do not really notice much difference with the legacy adapter board on them.

Maybe some DOCs will surface some day??? stir the pot / get cooking stir the pot / get cooking stir the pot / get cooking

My understanding is that they have advanced player tracking features that are really only good for the casinos.  For home users there is really no advantage to them.  Since they are still in short supply I avoid them when I can.

I am guessing that some of the speed benefits may come to play with the "R" flash boards as opposed to the legacy adapter board?

I have had several of these for many years now, but I did not bother installing them since I had no documentation, nor did I really see any advantages. (I was so happy I got something so rare back then, but could not get anything out of it since noone knew what it was so good for. LOL)

I do have a new 5 reeler that has it installed with a legacy adapter board, so I will have to watch it for any differences.

I would think that any speed increases would not be worth the flash board sensitivity issue for corruption. The first time I had to have my board re-flashed would send me back to the S2000 MPU but quick. Using the legacy board is defeating the speed issue, but if thats all you got, then go with it!  yes

I asked because I have a board that I can't seem to get working. The machine will not boot with the board installed.

I was hoping someone had a manual that had a troube shooting guide.

Thanks,

Rob,

I am thinking that you know this, but just in case: This may be a silly question, so please forgive me for asking, but you do know it takes a different backplane/motherboard correct???

Yes it requires a different mother or back plane board.

Yes, the updated MB/backplane is installed. Thanks Cap.

Here's the issue. When the enhanced board is installed and I power on the machine only the lights come on. No VFD display, no message on the spectrum, etc... No boot. At first I thought it was because I was missing the DSPL0002 chip, but once I installed that nothing changed.

Yes it does-Says S-2000 enhanced on it. Almost a clone to game king one--(back plane/mother-board).  Has car fuses in it. B.

This board is not flashed like an 044 is.  What set of base, game and version chips are you putting on the board?  I don't see any in the picture above.

Correct Jim,  Unless He is going r-board (flashed) and it still even has to have two chips in it.  That is why asked what he was setting up/doing--B.

It's the same chips I had in my 504B board for my 5-reel Triple Butterfly game. The only other chip I needed was the DSPL0002.

I did notice this. Where the rainbow ribbon cable plugs in on the backplane board, the plug is reversed for the enhanced. I doubt this is the issue, but I thought I would mention it.

The two pictures show the notches on different sides... I install my ribbon per the notches... I just thought was kind of odd...

hmm....shame.  Your problem is almost always the result of a bad software mix or a bad board.  Do you have another enhanced board that you can test in the machine?

Worst case scenario here is you fling that thing along with the backplane out the window and install some standard stuff.

Jim,  No need in being a hater---- no bust gut laughing.  Besides you would never run a flash r-board with standard stuff! for the future.  He most likely has a board issue.  Which one-?.  1-out 3 or a combination.   We had seen a lot of stupid problems in the past such as this and they derived from that type expansion board he is using.  Mostly it was sound issues however.   Rob, was the items you purchased tested and working or just as-is.  B.

I just removed the daughter board and inserted the enhanced board by itself and it still does the same thing. So, it's not the software.

It came from a working machine. I need to troubleshoot some more.

Can someone tell me what the rainbow ribbon cable is actually used for?

Rob

***NOTE***

It appears that the NETPLEX items (printer, BV, VFD, spectrum, etc...) have no power when the board is installed.

Does someone have pics of the plugs in their backplane board? Maybe I have some plugs backwards...

Thanks,

Rob
