Title: Bally E1000 reels are not lining up correctly
Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 08, 2013, 02:17:35 PM
I have a Bally E1000 that the reels seem to come to a stop just above the center line, is there a way I can adjust all 3 reels so the will look correct on a winning pay? Looks like this:

If your door is sagging, adjust it up. If not the door,  you could possibly loosen the glass and slide the glass up a bit.

Maybe the reel strips slid out of place over time?

Could be a combo of the door sagging and the glass needing to be moved up, the reel strips are in the reels nice and tight so I think they are ok.

I will try your suggestions

My guess would be the reels strips have moved over time. See it they will rotate in the tin reels. They are just held in place by the small crimp marks.. It's is also possible the glass is off a bit or been replace? Are the reels firmly locking in place or do they have slop that could indicate worn rollers or links?

the strips will not move at all in the reel housings at all, they are all 3 in there pretty firm. I don't know if the reel glass has ever been replaced, when they are in the locked position I can roll all 3 reels forward about an inch or so.

There is a roller between two connecting links that is spring loaded that goes down in the reel disk. I've seen them broken and or worn. Take the reels out and check them for wear.

Foxsslots -  Ebay store has readers.

Or contact NLG member Amachanic - He can help you to.

I had the same problem with reel #1 on my E-1000 - I replaced the strips a few years ago and did not get the one lined up as well as I would like, so I re did it the other night and it looks much better now - I tend to pick the fly sh** out of the pepper (Nit pick)!!

I am going to guess that if everything else checks out OK, that is your problem too. Just reposition the strips to your liking and go with it.

Just make sure that when you start that all 3 of the reels are indexed properly so the payouts remain correct!! I can't stress that enough.  I mark mine with a straight edge and a Sharpie.

Make sure that you have the following items/tools on hand;

(1) Small blade screwdriver - For prying the side reel crimps up (Carefully) & helping insert the strips under the edges. {Like a tire bead machine}

(2) Adhesive tape - For taping the reel strips down to the reel (The end with the reel strip info - Starting point).

(3) THIN 2 sided tape - For taping the strips to themselves (where they overlap).

(4) Small angle jaw pliers - For re-crimping the reel sides. I improvise with this.

Someone else jump in here if I missed something or if you don't care for my methods (No problem if you do)..

As I see it, if all of the other hardware is as it should be, this is your best bet!

Good Luck!

Gary,

Ask and ye shall receive!

"Snap-On 105 USA" is the only marking on them.  The pliers are from the early 70's when I was working for a local Ford dealer (Line mechanic).  What Snap-On has now, dunno!!  :186-
