Title: Bally E-1236 Double Progressive help
Post by: jerry304 on January 20, 2014, 09:06:07 PM
Hi,
I have a Bally E-1236 double progressive. The machine works great except I can not get the progressive to enter set up mode. The meters do advance, although they started at zero and are advancing at a 10% progression rate which is correct. MY problem is this...According to the progressive manual, once the door is opened, you hold in the two set up buttons at the bottom of the feature unit. Then advance to test 8 and release the two buttons. You should then see in the win meter 832801 or a similar number where the second digit from the left is the number of coins last played. My problem is that all I see in the win meter is 800000; which is the same as if I advanced to test 8 normally. I did test 3 and when pressing the buttons, I see that they are indeed making contact.. I have no idea what to do next.
Does anyone know what I'm either doing wrong, or if there is something I can check. Are there certain eproms to check? I guess it's possible an eprom or chip could be missing. I have no idea.

Thanks, Jerry

I watched the video and my game will not display 81238. This is where my problem lies. Does anyone have any experience with sort of problem. I think the problem is memory or ram related, not my setup procedures.

I have tried everything. I tried locking the door and running test 8 and the result was the same. The win meter shows 85 000. The same as if I didn't hold the two buttons. The machine just won't go into progressive set up mode. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
I noticed on my MPU that there is no EPROM in M4/U14. It's just an empty socket. Is that correct?
What is responsible for the progressive functions? Is it the ram board or on the main board?

Shows U13/P2 is the optional/additional PROM for progressive machines. Try reseating all your chips on the board? Cables are all connected properly? Do you have a E1000 or E2000 board in your machine?

My board is E1000. I removed all the EPROMs and cleaned all the pins. All the cables are installed correctly. The machine works fine other than not being able to set up the progressive. Still nothing I do works.

M4 on the E1000 & on the E2000 - PROM P2/U13  I believe is the optional PROM needed for "Progressive" feature.

I believe you need the 5th optional PROM for the progressive feature to function.

Hopefully the experts will chime in here soon.

Can you post a pic of your board?

M4 on my board is empty. Is it possible that this is causing all the problems? If this is the issue, how do I get a replacement?
Are all the progressive EPROMs the same or are they model specific?
