I was sitting around thinking of this crazy idea:  I have the shell of a Bally 5500.  What I was going to do was place a computer inside and take apart a monitor and place it where the reels would go.  I could hook up the buttons to the keyboard inputs to make a game like this work:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Slots-Featuring-WMS-Gaming-Computer-Game-Casino_W0QQitemZ130255766463QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Software?hash=item1e53d943bf&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

What do you think?

I was thinking about doing the same thing. I have a shell and the IGT Slots Little Green Men program and I was thinking that would be kind of cool too. Too bad we could not get it to program to the hopper for a nice real payout..lol...

Yeah!  I'm going to see if the monitor I have will reasonably fit into the door of the slot.  If it does then I think I'll give it a try.    What do I have to loose?  I  didn't know they sold wms games for the PC.

These machines/cabinets with a computer inside have popped up on ebay from time to time for an absurd amount of money and whatever you do, don't download the latest update to LGM, it ruins the whole game

There are in fact two releases of WMS games, though the every so popular Jackpot Party is not included.

I am thinking a small LCD monitor mounted to the door would do the trick.
I was going to use a new glass and paint it up to make it look like it was made for it.
I have an old skill stop I am thinking about doing this to.
Might be kind of cool.

Makes it play alot slower, the first reel will stop and the others will spin for like 40 seconds before they all stop.. it's a big annoyance

Couldn't we have someone who could write a program to add to the video game
and output the credits via the serial port to a hopper?
Or to a ticket printer perhaps?
I think all this was done with MAME?

Here's one big problem - The most of the bonus features require you to touch the screen.  I was looking for keyboard mappings last night but couldn't find them.

Although not the shell of a slot machine, years ago I took the shell of a videopoker machine, stuffed a computer, touch screen monitor, and an old Nintendo inside.  Have all the great slot software including Little Green Men.  Works great.  Hope this provides some idea's.

Nice job!  I like how you managed to shoe horn everything in there.

I just posted a pic of mine in another thread.  It's using a kiosk that I got from someone who purchased it from a community college.  I replaced the 17" CRT touchscreen with a 19" LCD touchscreen.  It's running the IGT slot games, and a touchscreen jukebox program.  I also just bought the WMS double pack, but haven't installed it yet.

I'm still working on it.  I've got the software running, but the inside of the cabinet is still in question.  I'm thinking of removing the PC from the case and mounting it in the cabinet that way.  I'm also thinking of making a new front door with speakers mounted in it.  Currently I have the left and right speakers in the air vents on the left and right of the cabinet, and the sub inside.

I found this and wanted to share it with you guys.....if anyone out there knows how to build this machine or sell them, let me know.

The cabinet is made of 3/4 inch plywood. The machine uses parts from a 550 WMS,like the logic box, power supply, bill validator and the noisy hard meters. It also uses some parts from a 360 machine,The hopper, coin mech and arm rest, coin cup and button panel. All the coin chutes were homemade. The validator mount is from a IGT S+ slot. The monitor hatch was made from 16 ga sheet metal. The 18 inch touch screen LCD display is something I found on Ebay.
It also has a home made topbox with a second lcd display for use with dual display games like Monopoly. The topbox also uses 550 belly glass. In the near future I will be changing the cpu board out to a NXT cpu board.

One of my many projects put on the backburner was to make a Mini550.  I have all the parts, just need to design the box.  I was, in fact, even going to make a spongebob Squarepants box and put the stuff inside, but alas, since all the layoffs, my time has been very limited in both vacation time, and free time when I get home.  Since the weekends are strictly devoted to my child, I can only do this kind of stuff if I take a day off, something I haven't been able to do in quite the while.
