Hey all my fellow NLG members.  I have a single IGT s2000 machine that I would like to set up to accept a magnetic strip card like casinos use for player tracking where I could load promotional balances on the card and be able to download them into the machine so I would not need to use money in the BA.  I am also looking to set it up that I can give cards to people I let play my slots and have it give them credit based on how much they play to replenish their card.  any idea how I could get this to work using a windows pc and a card writer?

I am wondering basicly the same thing I want to give someone a card that has a set amount of credits and they put it in the machine and enter a code the machine then adds credits to the machine and they play if they win and hit the cash out button instead of paying out the credits they are saved to the card

They can add $$ to the card by putting $$ in the machine but when they cash out all credits go on card

Just a thought

i am thinking if there is someway to get the microcontrollers to tlak to the card and the transmit back to a pc, the amounts available would not actually be written to the card you would want that stored elsewhere otherewise someone could figure out a way to increase that amount and re write the card.

also you would have to ensure that the slot supports AFT SAS 6and above does.

onces i get my amacus board i am going to start experimenting with the keypad, display  and card reader

UPDATE:

Well, I got another WBA 11SS bill head in the mail today.  The good news is that it now reads tickets and TITO is working great on my S2000 now.  So both machines are working with TITO.  The bad news is that this bill head does exactly the opposite of the other one.  It will read tickets all day long, but won't read any bills.  Sad  I take that back, I did finally get it to read a 1 dollar bill.  What I think I'll do at this point is order a calibration paper.  I cleaned all of the sensors, rollers, belts, path.  Maybe these bill heads do get out of alignment, thus affecting what they can read, and casinos just replace them instead of clean and calibrate...who knows.

Anyway, I'll get some video up later.

Thanks again!

What probably happened is someone calibrated without cleaning it and there you went and cleaned it all up and now there is no hope without calibration.

It is a lazy tech fix... calibration without cleaning. Then I come along and have to clean it and calibrate it all over again!

Make sure to get the rollers across from the magnetic sensors nice and clean. The dirt from bills will carry some ink and leave magnetic trace in the gunk on the wheels causing havoc with the sensors.

Whoops, I'm sorry guys, I just realized that I posted this in the wrong thread.  It was supposed to go here:  http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=19583.175

Mirage Chaser, thanks for the info.  Yeah, I installed it as is right out of the box and it didn't work right.  Then I tried cleaning it hoping that would improve the situation.  Unfortunately no go.

Thanks,
Jason

Eventually I would like to make use of the LCD/Keyboard/Cardreader brackets from a commercial player tracking system for my project - Bally Mastercom 250 sets seem to be the most common.
It seems like these communicate via the mastercom250 via SPI. The plan is to sniff the data going from the mastercom 250 using something like this http://usbee.com/busbee.aspx and then emulate those signals with the amicus

I also have a RFID reader from ebay that I would like to incorporate in the project -
