Title: IGT PE or PE+
Post by: slotace on November 15, 2009, 05:49:13 PM
I understand the IGT PE has the MPU in the back versus the siide like the PE+.  Are the electronics the same, i.e. the MPU and the Mother Board?  If not, can anyone shoot me a PE manual? to acemusician@aol.com. Thanks very much!

The PE+ usually has a DBV the PE had no such capabilities.
The electronics are not the same. I think there are a few people looking for a PE manual.
The PE+ has two different boards available for it.
The standard is single game and it used a PROGRAM chip, a Caprom and a series of other graphic chips MXO,MRO,MGO,MBO
The superboard also has a DATA chip in addition to the program chip and there are multigame sets avaialble.

I believe the PE board was strictly a single game, you could swap the PROGRAM chip but the graphic chips were all built in.

Thanks Jay- I also had a PE+ where I did replace the single board game with a Superboard. As I understand you, the PE cannnot have a BV, but only a single game- The game can be changed via a new program chip (I am assuming the same progam eprom as a PE+) but the graphics cannot be changed. It seems otherwise, the PE+ is very similar to the PE, absent the bv and multi-board capability. graphics options. Thanks! Yes, if someone has a PE Manual, that would asisist more than me- would like to see the actual MPU and electronics! Thanks!

I would not think that a PE+ chip would be interchangeable with a PE.
On the S slots they used RS chips (vs SS) and while the slower RS chips would work in the S+ the reverse was not true.
