Desperately need help with my Williams Jackpot Party slot machine.
Problem:
The machine will initialize, and if there are credits remaining from previous play (before machine was shut down), will possibly play 2 or 3 games and will then shut down, and reinitialize again. The machine will stop in the middle of a spin and reinitialize. Sometimes it will accept a few coins and the shut down before the spin button is pressed. It keeps just going on and off. Occasionally, It will say insert coin and will stay on, as long as I don't try to play it.
Things that I have tried:
1. Putting the 2 main boards in another machine. They work fine.
2. Put the coin comparator in another machine. It works fine.
3. Put the coin encoder assembly in another machine. It works fine.
4. Put the harness from the coin encoder to where it plugs into the connector where it comes off of the front door on another machine. That's OK.
5. I have disconnected all wiring harness connectors and sprayed some with contact cleaner and put them back in place.
6. I tried the board from the dot matrix in the top box in another machine. That's OK.

Any suggestions??????

Sounds like you could have a power supply problem. Did you say you have another machine that you could swap with.

Is this a Dotmation spinning reel slot, or a video slot?  If it's a Dotmation, I'd also suspect the lower power supply (the one next to the hopper).

Edited to add: I see you made reference to the Dot Matrix display.  Lower power supply.  Check the WMS Reel category for a number of posts related to power supply problems and fixes.

Thank you for your reply.
The problem has been solved..........well almost, anyway. The power supply is bad.
I swapped power supplies with another Jackpot party slot that I have and the machines works fine.
So, thanks to all who contributed. Now, I just have to find a reasonably priced replacement. Does anyone out there have one? My Williams machine is a model, version 71272, date of manufacture is 1-31-96.

Jerry

Follow this link......

BTW, thats the 12 volts for the Dotmation display ONLY. It is not the bottom supply, which is entirely DIFFERANT.

This IS the power supply that has been running in the lower power supply unit for as long as I have had the machine. It just started to act up the other day.

Indeed, Jim can get you the lower power supply that you need, and he supports this site.  His contact information can be found in his profile.
