A little more info on Kortek monitors, from Delphi forums...

Mike><>

I got this information from Casino Tech. They are the authorized service for KORTEK. When you loose H-synk, when the screen goes dim or when the monitor blanks out, replace this group of caps. Some of these caps have different ratings than what your taking out. TRUST ME! You'll thank me for this.

C107 - 47uf, 50v

C108 - 1uf, 50v

C123 - 1000uf, 16v

C126 - 47uf, 16v

C408 - 22uf, 160v

C421 - 10uf, 160v (always replace this if you replace the H.O.T.)

C506 - 47uf, 50v

C508 - 100uf, 50v

At first I would test all of these caps but they always failed 10% tolerance. replacing these is the first thing I do. It has saved me a lot of time and troubleshooting. The H.O.T is usually the next thing to go so I replace it with this set.

just a quick note:

the 1703 and the 1903 are almost the same.  usually the symptoms and repairs are identical yes

the 1403 is a little different, but has very close to the same component locations so troubleshooting is a matter of checking the same area of the board as on the 1703 or 1903. propeller

I believe this something worth passing along...a couple weeks ago I had two Kortek monitors that were slow to initialize when powered up(up to 10 minutes before the raster would start glowing...).  The problem component(s) turned out to be C107 &/or C108...both capacitors work with IC101 for a FBT lock...

Hi la...,

Do you have model number on the monitor?  Just from the description, it sounds like a capacitor has flaked out on you...look for an electrolytic cap that has domed top in the horizontal circuit...

Hope this helps...

Had a couple tough ones recently and thought I'd share the repairs...

The first was a Ceronix monitor used in a Konami.  The problem originally was a blacked out raster, I checked the H.O.T. and found it shorted... easy fix...replaced the H.O.T. (433), powered the monitor up and it came up with a perfect picture...for about one minute hissy fit and blacked out, again...looked a little further in the circuit and replaced IRF520 MOSFET (460) & the H.O.T., again...powered the monitor up and it came up with a perfect picture...for about one minute (again) hissy fit hissy fit, well this went on a couple more times with the same results.  I finally dug my head out of my donkey and found LA7851 (415) was overdriving the H.O.T. and surrounding ckt. applause

The second one was a Kortek 1982F used in a IGT slant top...the monitor had horizontal collapse (a single line running vertically on the raster....( l )).  Checking the schematic I started assuming the problem "had" to be in one of two ICs that the horizontal sync went through...silly me duh!  As it turned out the H.O.T. (Q302 a SC25584) was flakey...though it checked "good" on a multimeter.  I need to thank a tech at CasinoTech for this repair yes...I might still be replacing components in the horizontal circuit if he hadn't clued in to looking closer at the H.O.T. !!!

Hope one or both of these helps someone out there...

Hi lahillbilly,

I'd probably start with this one...
Problem; Dark stripes on left side.
Solution; Repl. D904 on dynamic focus bd.
If not, try...
Problem; Horizontal Tare.
Solution; Repl. C123.

If you could post a picture or better description, I might be able to figure a better solution...
Hope one of these helps...

Had a problem with a Tovis monitor today, at first glance it looked like a shorted H.O.T.(Q308), but once I removed it from the circuit it checked ok, and empty position still showed a dead short across all three legs.  Looking a little deeper into the circuit I checked D301 it showed a dead short, until I removed it from the circuit then it checked good, too.  After checking a little further, I found the flyback transformer had cracks and one side had "bubbled"...one of these days I'm going to remember to do a visual first duh!

I don't know of any program like that for a computer...Sencore makes a "VideoPro" test equipment that has many of the test features you mention..."click" on the link if you're interested;

thanks...this is an good test equipment...

I have found this freeware program on internet
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Other-VIDEO-Tools/Nokia-Monitor-Test.shtml
Its good for testing, but this program don't have the option to change resolution and don't have an animation to test monitors for more times

I need something like this program but freeware becouse in my company its a problem to purchase this program
http://www.passmark.com/products/monitortest.htm

Its have
Looped testing to continually test your monitor
and
Support for all available resolutions and color depths
this is that I need...

If anyone have an program like this.

Thanks

I just went to the second site you mentioned...I just assumed the cost was in the hundreds if not thousands of dollars...Dude...if the company you work for can't afford $24.00 you NEED to find another employer!!!

If the program would make my life (work) easier, I'd purchase it myself and let the boss know that when I left the program would be leaving with me...

A little FYI...

I've been having problems with a couple bartop monitors (Ceronix 1493s).  I couldn't get the raster adjusted in the center of the screen, there was a gap about 1 1/2" to 2" wide on the right side that was blank.

I tried everything that looked like it would have an effect on the horizontal position on the schematic next to no luck at all (tried substituting some resistors and accomplished moving the raster farther to the left).

I finally took my problem to the techs on Delphi Forums and got the answer to my problem two small electrolytic capacitors at positions 344 & 347 had evidently dried out...thanks to dickcet & OkieMike on that site for the information...

Delphi Forums is another excellent source of information!

God bless,

I'm not sure, but I might have posted this previously...
I got a Kortek monitor that had compressed vertical signal...the top half of the raster had collapsed, the bottom half looked normal.  Turns out that C119 and C122 were the problem in the circuit...electrolytics tend to dry out after a while...

In the past few months I come across some problem monitors...the monitors worked fine on the IGT 960 test station, but on the floor the monitors wouldn't power-up.

Thanks to MBTECH3 for the heads up on the repair for this Kortek monitor fix...this is from delphiforums;
http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=slottech&msg=5990.1 (http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=slottech&msg=5990.1)
"I had seen alot of those on the 17" which I had alot more of, now we are all LCD. The fix for that was C107 47uf@50v. I believe the tester kicks out around 220v AC for monitor power which is not  affected by a broken down C107. On the floor the games are only putting out 110v AC for monitor power which is affected by a bad cap in the power up circuit. As best I can remember."

This has helped me repair monitors that had me wondering about the floor techs...

God bless,
Mike><>

Just a FYI...

A  Ceronix LCD Inverter Board (P/N CPM2243) can substitute for a Kortek LCD 17"/19" Inverter Board (GH059A).

We've had a Ceronix Inverter Bd in a Kortek LCD Monitor for over two months and thus far it has functioned flawlessly.

Hi king13,

I hate to appear ignorant, but I have no idea what a "p42sx pdp" is...

Is it a CRT or a LCD?  If it is a LCD the green light may indicate that the A-D board is receiving every signal that it is "looking" for (Horz. sync, Vert. sync, frequency, etc...), if this is the case, you probably have a faulty inverter board.

Sorry, I'm not of more help...

God bless,
Mike><>

Hello,

Do you guys have any information for any other model of Kristel, Kortek, Ceronix or Wells Gardner monitors?  I have done some work myself on boards of these monitors, and found faulty parts, but no schematic of BOM for values of the parts for replacement.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.
