Title: Bally "Gamemaker" Questions
Post by: galahad on November 18, 2008, 08:22:24 PM
Thinking about getting a gamemaker and noticed one site said the game comes with "standard sound". Is that just the bells and tones? Are there options for different kinds of sounds on this machine? What year did they first come out with the game? Looking for maybe a 10-game one. What other things should I be looking for on this machine? Am from the Pennsylvania area, near Philly and the Valley Forge area. Just wondering if there are any dealers around this way? Any info is appreciated!

The standard sounds are for any of the muti-games in which there is room for ten games eproms on the MPU at one time. Deluxe sounds would be for 7200 dedicated games like Hot, Hot, Hot, Boxcar Bonus, etc. these games came with a dedicated sound eprom that was placed in the deluxe sound card. This deluxe sound card is not a standard feature in most cabinets, just the double row bet deck style cabinets. The deluxe sound card can be added to any 7000 or 7200 series machine for use with the dedicated game. Using a deluxe sound card with the standard 10 multi-games will not work, so the usage is very limited. Be aware that when you use your machine as a dedicated game, that is the only game you can play even though you may have empty game sockets on the board. You will only be able to play that one dedicated game. Otherwise you can mix and match the numerous games available for the Gamemaker up to 10 games at a time. Check some of the other threads, I believe there is a Gamemaker SMI game list there.

And when buying a dedicated game the double row button deck does not match up correctly when using multi-games.   One of the buttons will take you to the setup menu!
