if you cant afford to lose you cant afford to win

Hi,

I have a Williams dine time pinball. I have had it now for about 4 years. Still love playing it.
As most of you know I moved from PA to Canada and have recently got my games room up and running.

I finally had a "free day" and I was doing all the regular maint things and noticed that the left half of my back glass has no lights.
The clock works, and the right side is fine but the left appears dead. I dug out the manual which leaves a lot to be desired.
I was able to do a light test and none of these lights come on. I did a quick bulb swap with one that was on and the bulbs are fine.

I took a flashlight and looked at the fuses and they all appear to be good. I didn't want to start pulling fuses and testing with my multimeter as it was geting quite late.

I thought I would post here and perhaps one of our many Pin Experts would have some insight as to what fuse to check rather than pulling all of them one by one.
I looked a the wiring harness and it again looks fine but any suggestions of things to look at specifically would be grand.
It was working in PA and now its not. So I am sure it was something that may have vibrated loose on its journey.

I did learn a bit about the various menus and manged to program in a custom message along with wiping my kids outrageously high scores off the board (he he).

He also had a couple of questions that I was not able to answer - Why does the machine have 3 balls when only 1 is ever captured, and multiball is 2 balls ? He then asked if I could change the multiball to play 3 balls ?

my first comment is that you need to tell us the name of the game.
there is no game called "dine time".  Do you mean Williams DINER?
without this basically information i really can't comment further.

Clay,

You are correct the game is Williams Diner.....
When you hit all the right targets one of the sound sequences says "Its DINE Time ...."
at 1.00am when I composed the post... it all kind of blended together  fruit (like fruit coctail).

1. You have to identify if the lamps are from general ilumination or else
ussualy  the GI lamps connectors get toasted, , so in the backbox  at the lower left  long pcb with fusses connectors , ,,, power resistors
is called interconnect board D12185
check connector 2J7 you can also follow the color of wires from the lamps ,,, should be a line of lamps
- can check the fusses with a DM  without removing them  on diode check or OHM  should read 1 or 2 ohm ,   pinball machine OFF
http://ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=681&picno=25519
manual here :
http://www.ipdb.org/files/681/Williams_1990_Diner_Full_Operations_Manual.pdf

You can also look to manual to see exact, considering the colors of the lamp line not working at what connector they reach,,,,

Considering that the head was lowered and raised back + transport  sometime a wire can be pulled out of connector or just a connector reseated ,,,
identify the wires where are going is not so difficult ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

2. Diner is designed only for 2 balls multiball You can not change that unless You can rewrite the game software ,,, propeller

No not yet. Unfortunately I have left town for a month or two on business and will look at it again when I return home.
