I know there's a thread on this somewhere but I'm too lazy to look!  zzzzzzz
Actually it may just be on s2000 back lit strips in general.
But I'm wondering, is there ANY indicator on the strips to know if they are washable? I know in that other thread, someone said there was a way to test the strips. I've never touched the strips on my Top Dollar...but would like to dust them sometime.

Just finished up one....hard to see in the picture below (took earlier in the week and not at the warehouse now to take a close up)....but it's up on the rack now .  Anyway, everything on it is factory original including strips.  And 100% for sure the strips were washable.

ttth  However if you are asking because you are debating about washing your strips or not...I would suggest testing a pea sized area first.  There were several production runs I am sure so you never no for sure sometimes what you got.  Just get a little moisture on your finger tip and touch and hold in a spot....if it feels tacky after holding it there for a few seconds then for sure you have the "do not get wet" run of strips.

Hey I just found a pic of them closeup from a machine I had a couple years back, but they are exactly the same.  These have the famous "ghost" or "gooly" backlit effect where the symbols are not opaque but instead you can see right through to the "hovering" backlit bulbs behind.  Anyway, these strips were washable.

Here's a look at the "gooly" effect on the strips when the spin.  Is this the only game that has strips made this way?  I'm trying to remember if there were any others but can't think of any.

Check out the nice jackpot I lucked into right about the 3:00 minute mark.

Yes, but test a very small area first.  Washable strips usually have a glossier look. It is easy to tell whenyou have both side by side of course.   The non washable will turn sticky when wet.

Thought I would share what I do to clean up washable strips.  I usually simply wash them with window cleaner to get the dirt off.  But after that, I use a liquid carnuba car wax, wiping on the wax, let it dry, and buff, just like waxing car paint.  The result?  Nice, very shiny strips with lot's of the small imperfections, like light scratching greatly diminished.  The wax fills the imperfections.  makes them look like a million bucks!

Also, remember, chrome loves wax.  I also wax the chrome on all the machines about once a year, resists fingerprinting and really makes it pop.  :-)

OK thanks mopar. Yeah the set I have in the machine are brown looking almost rough to the feel. The new ones I picked up are a lot more white cleaner looking and have a smooth shiny look to them.

Yeah, I did the wax thing on these strips too when I bought my kit last year.  Worked great!

Well tried the Spot test on the end of the Munsters strip today. It pretty much took the shiny laminate right off.  I would of swore these Strips were washable. O well, their still a nice set of strips not "Minty" but nice Smiley

I also tried washing my Munsters reel strips with no luck.  If you wipe enough, it does get to the white base of the strip, which is quite shiny and glossy.  But, if you try that on one of the symbols, the symbol washes right off in layers.  For example, the green bars start to become blue, then become clear until they're gone.  Fortunately, I didn't go that far, but the previous owner did.  I only wiped a portion of the green bar and saw that it starting turning blue, like some of the symbols the previous owner washed.

I'm still looking for a new set of strips because of it. yes

I cleaned "just the white part of the non washable strips" on my Munsters vision machine.
Dipped Q-Tips "for the big areas " and FLAT toothpicks "to get close to the symbols" in a light solution of glass cleaner. It took hours Tongue Out
Now the white is white and not "tobacco "white. It was a big improvement,  TRY NOT TO GET ANY SOLUTION ON THE SYMBOLS
it will take them right up. Good luck.
