Title: Looking for repair info for cps1 willow c board wire hack fell off
Post by: Kory on October 03, 2013, 01:05:19 PM
Does anyone have any idea how to fix a c board on a willow cps1 board.  It used to have a wire hack on it and at some point in time it fell off and I cannot tell where the wire used to be.  I can do minor repairs but I'm not that tech savvy and will need basic instructions.  If someone can't help me do you know where I can get a new c board.  Thanks

The sound works great. The words look great.  The only problem is the messed up/glitchy graphic during game play.

Not familiar with Willow so I can't tell you if it's a production fix or a hack because of a bad connection between the C board and the B board under it. If it's a hack to fix a bad connection then simply follow the traces to see where you can attach it.

Another thing to do is to look around for shiny solder where the wire used to be attached. Factory solder will look dull compared to reworked solder.

The dead battery society has a page on CPS1 boards and the hacks to get around the suicide of these boards when the battery goes flat.  It could be this jumper wire.  That's if Willow is one of these PCB's that have a battery backup, SOME CPS1 boards don't.
