Title: Need help with a Ceronix 1492 please.
Post by: DragonMa15 on August 01, 2012, 12:04:20 PM
I have a Ceronix 1492 in an IGT PE+ machine that has been giving me problems for a few months now.  First it blacked out, but I had a cap kit on hand, so I threw it in and that took care of the power problem.  Then, about a month later, I started to have a vertical deflection problem.  It starts out looking like this:

Then, after letting it warm up a few minutes it looks like this:

And again, after a few minutes it changes to this:

I figured that the problem might have been a bad cap at 191, but that was changed with the cap kit.  Now I think it might be in the vertical ocsilator circuit, so I imagine I should just replace the IC.  I dont have one on hand, so I figured I would throw this out to the ceronix experts to see if there is anything else that should be added to my order for the IC.  Or if anyone knows of any more tests to try and track down exactly what the problem is.

Thanks in advanced for any help I get.
Gregg

to save time and aggravation  Ceronix has a flat rate repair cost. Last time I did it , the cost was 45.00.  even if the board was toast they would replace it instead of repairing it.  I think its a pretty good deal.

I usually include a note to recap and complete all repairs  as needed.  never had an issue with any thing I got back.

We have a member on this site that is the #1 tech at Ceronix Goes by CerTech, his name is Troy. I would call Ceronix and ask for him, he can look at the pictures you have posted and give his opinion as to the problem. For what it's worth he's one real nice guy. If you send in a part for repair, Troy is the one that will do the repair.

I just called Ceronix and talked to Don the owner and he said Troy doesn't work there anymore, but they have a new tech and he will be more than willing to help you out.

Thanks for the heads up Jim.  That may very well be the route I end up taking.  I'm just pig-headed enough to keep banging my head on the wall though.  I have been trying to learn all I can about CRT repair.  My game room is mostly arcade machines, so it will only help in the long run.

I tried calling Ceronix yesterday but didn't reach anyone.  I will try again today.  I would love to pick their tech's brain on this.  Thanks Buzz.

So whats the trick getting a hold of someone at Ceronix?  I have called them atleast 20 times since starting this thread and have gotten the answering machine each time.  I have left a handfull of messages and have not heard back.

I know, just keep trying, but I guess I'm losing patience  :103-
