I don't have a clear chip but the machine didn't have a bill taker on it. when I turn it on it works but does not take the bills in. I know the game has to be cleared first but don't know how to do. it is a Igt

No need to clear, turn off game, pull board, install SET chip in GAME socket (note notch position on end of chip), power up game, after display comes up, press self test button, 9-0 should appear, press spin reel button to change to 9-1, press self test button again, 0 should appear in display, press spin reels button to advance to correct denom, press and hold self test until display clears, turn off game, pull and replace set chip with game chip, power up, clear code, if anything other than 61 turn off and power back up, when 61 appears press and hold self test until 61-1 close door, turn jackpot reset key on side, machine will pause then should clear or give a code, if 65-x open door and press and hold self test until display goes out, it will clear

What Game chip are you using?, the ID on the bv software you have is for Pokers or SP 708 (ID-022), I don't know if an ID-023 was made for the Upstacker in the DBV-35 I could only offer the correct game chip that would make it work, I only have software for the newer BV's,in the SU's (like DBV-200 SH/SU) just a note you can't use the common SS software in that BV it has to be an SG/SH (Upstacker), the version you have won't take much current money

You would need a 200 head to keep that Game chip unless you changed to the SS type Validator, (what you just put on is SU) I looked and JCM did not make a SU chip for the ID 023, what we have done in the past is put a DBV-200 SH/SU head on the unit you have, you have to drill the 2 rivets it pivots on and re rivet it back, the 200 SH heads are currently harder to obtain than the normal SS IGT's use, we have the correct software the 200 uses for the unit you have (up to new colored $10) and could keep the SP 1160, but unless you want to keep the 1160, changing the Game chip to a 708 is easiest, but you would not accept much new money with the bv software you have

I didn't try it yet but can I remove the head and see what chip it has inside like the 145 do. Or can I use the case and update the guts that go inside of the case.
Thank you

You can pull the bottom off, it has an eprom, the head is rivited on to transport at the pivot point, that head is an SH/SU like a Bally or WMS uses, not a SS like most IGT machines use

The chip said jcm/ballys/Igt no numbers and there was no rivet to drill it came out with 3 screws that was easy. ut I have a question that to prong switch take tells you the door is open where do I jump it in the machine. It should take dollors at least right if the wire's for the switch inside the machine not jump would that stop it from taking dollors. the dip switch on the dbv is all set to off.
Thank you
