Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: Buzz on November 01, 2010, 03:25:39 AM Could be dirty reel optics .
Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: badgeking2 on November 01, 2010, 02:42:02 PM Buzz
Thanks allot yes dirty optics cleaned all reels with cotton swab works great. only problem is bill validator it makes noise when the machine is powered on but wont take bills. like i said earlier all dip switches are set to on could this be the problem? Thanks Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: stayouttadabunker on November 01, 2010, 03:11:43 PM If the reels optics were dirty and that fixed it - you could just about guarantee
that the bill acceptor optics are pretty much in the same condition... Just use soapy water & Q-Tip swabs...avoid alcohol based products because the optics are made of a plastic-type of lens and the alcohol just makes the lens cloud up later - creating even worse problems. Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: badgeking2 on November 01, 2010, 03:49:58 PM No not it. took the bv out of slot and placed it in my games king and it works fine tried the game king bv in the slot and no good eather in the slot. after i did the clear ram on the slot because of battery replacement is there some kind of programing i need to do? on the games king i had to tell it what bv and coin it had. been looking at all torent sites to find manual but no luck.
Thanks Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: stayouttadabunker on November 01, 2010, 03:57:44 PM Open the door bk2,

Also a good place to get parts. http://rudysdeals.com/index.php
There is a dip switch on the MPU that has to be turned on. I wll look it up and get back to you. I know I set mine with 1 tru 5 off and the other 3 on, this way I get 100 credits for one dollar bill. Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: Buzz on November 01, 2010, 05:13:49 PM The way I read this is, dip switch JW 3 switch # 6 must be on for BV JW 7 all switches are ON
Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: badgeking2 on November 01, 2010, 06:08:12 PM down loaded the manual and it was the dip switches set them up did clear and now the first reel wont stop spinning got error code 41. pulled the reel out and removed the board i can see that the optics have been replaced before. (bad job)

try switching the connectors between 1 & 2 reels and see if the problem follows the reel harness or the reels. :209- Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: badgeking2 on November 01, 2010, 06:43:05 PM tried that problem follows the reel switched into slot 2 and in slot 3 did a clear each time problem follows reel.
Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: stayouttadabunker on November 01, 2010, 07:08:15 PM Ae you saying that the reel connected when switched is slowing spinning? :103-
When you switch the Molex plug on the reels, do you get a different error code in the display or are you only getting the error [40] code? Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: badgeking2 on November 01, 2010, 07:14:30 PM yes reel is slow spin and i get error code 41,42,43 for what ever i have the reel pluged into 1,2,3 . the other good reels when i start machine have a little jurk to them when they spin this one is a nice steady slow spin

Thanks You cannot use an IGT Gameking BV in a Bally 5500 and the other way around. They have different software/protocols, and would have to be reprogrammed first.... Are you sure that the BV from the Bally Slot worked in the IGT Gameking??? :103- :103- :103- CaptainHappy :95- :nlg- ADMIN Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: badgeking2 on November 01, 2010, 09:57:28 PM sorry its a bally game maker

Thanks Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: a69mopar on November 02, 2010, 01:24:30 AM I believe that he meant that he took his BV out of his Bally S5500 and tried it in his Gamemaker, (he said Game King by accident) Older Gamemakers had the same BV as the S5500.
Is it clear now. :96- W Title: Re: bally s5500 error code 40 Post by: a69mopar on November 02, 2010, 01:25:05 AM typing at the same time.
