Hello,

My S-plus slot has started to make a buzzing sound after spinning reels. It happens almost every time after 4-5 spins. If I hit the spin button again the sound goes away. I am not able to locate where the sound is coming from because if I open the the door the sound goes away.
I have disconnected the speaker so I know that the sound is not from there.
Does anyone know what my problem is?

Look at you coin comparator.
My S+ the rake coil got weak and
started vibrating

Put credits on the machine
and remove the coin comparator.
Then pay to see if this solves the problem.
If you can play with the belly door open ,
then you can move the comparator out to the
opening and watch it as you play.

I get this from drinking too much red bull.

I think the crew is on spot with the solinoid and rake.....

however....
- You do get a constant humm noise from a 16mhz board.
- Some S+'s had fans in the top box. These could be dirty.
- Your reels on the reel shelf could be a bit loose or the reel shelf could be lose.
- The hopper could also be loose and slightly rubbing on the door.

I'd lean towards the coin-in solenoids (either the one in the comparator, or the divertor that directs coins to the drop when the hopper is full), too.  But Jay brought up a good point -- on my S+ Pinball with a 16mhz board, I do get a lot of buzzing/static after some bonus rounds, until the next spin.

This points me to the coin divertor solenoid under the coin comparitor? :129-
Why? Because the divertor disengages the second the door optics are opened.

Open the belly door instead of opening the main door and watch
the vertically positioned coin divertor solenoid carefully.
see if it's physically shaking up and down millimeters of and inch.

Secondly, stick a plastic or wooden stick onto the solenoid magnetic body and to your ear.
(The noise  from the solenoid chattering becomes amplified through the stick.
My father in-law used to listen to car engines this way for knocks and whines as he didn't have a stethoscope.)

If it's really loud, the black IC component welded to the tabs may
be going out of specifications or needs to be replaced.

My 16Mhz does the same thing. Loud buzzing.

not sure if these machines do it, but most fruit machines / slot machines with reels half phase the reels when they are idle. as in it powers the last coil for a few millisec then turns it off  over and over, to hold the reel in position (if u try and move the reel it will resist). this can cause a buzzing sound! as the stepper sound echos off the reel band
