Title: How To: Enable the bill validator on a PE+ with a SET chip Post by: knagl on November 05, 2010, 03:03:04 AM A set chip, or "denomination setup chip" is a chip that you temporarily install on the MPU circuit board to enable the bill validator. It essentially gives permission to the machine to enable the bill validator.
You can purchase a set chip from any of the vendors listed at the top of this page, or likely from any machine vendor you know of in your area. To enable the bill validator on a PE+: - Turn the machine off. - Remove the MPU board - Remove the current chip in the "Program" socket - Install the SET chip in the Program socket (make sure to install the chip with the notch in the same direction as the chip you removed) - Put the MPU board back in the machine and turn the power on You should now see a screen similar to this: (http://i44.tinypic.com/149rzaw.jpg) (Thanks to Stolistic for the screenshot from his blog!) Follow the directions on the screen -- use the Jackpot Reset key to set the correct denomination ($0.05, $0.25, etc.), and use the Deal/Draw button to toggle the "Disabled/Enabled" option to "Enabled." IMPORTANT! Make sure to press the white "self test" button to save the settings, and wait until you see "Options Saved" on the screen (like in the picture above). Once you've done that: - Turn the machine off - Remove the MPU board - Remove the SET chip from the Program socket and put your game program back in its place - Install the MPU board again - Turn the machine on -- your bill validator should now work Title: Re: How To: Enable the bill validator on a PE+ with a SET chip Post by: stayouttadabunker on November 05, 2010, 04:23:27 AM :212- :212- :212-Excellent post Knagl! :131- :3- :293-

Title: Re: How To: Enable the bill validator on a PE+ with a SET chip Post by: 3craiger3 on January 27, 2011, 05:07:25 PM is there a way to disable the bill validator and put credits on the game without putting money in?
Title: Re: How To: Enable the bill validator on a PE+ with a SET chip Post by: stayouttadabunker on January 27, 2011, 06:15:08 PM Yes.
The first post up top here in this thread will answer your first half of your question. As far as putting credits on without putting money in... you'd be a multi-millionaire if you could do that at a casino but you'd soon have a cellmate who likes looking at you from behind! :5- just kidding... I've heard of some online slot machine website store that sells some gadgets that allows you to put credits on a machine. Title: Re: How To: Enable the bill validator on a PE+ with a SET chip Post by: jay on January 27, 2011, 10:02:24 PM There is no way to put credits on the machine without putting money in - assuming you want to keep your machine "stock".
Some people will set their machine to 1c denomination then run a $20.00 bill through a couple of times to put on a ton of credits. If you then remove the wires to the Cash Out button no one can cash out and your machine escentially runs on credits until you either exceed the max credits or get to 0. Most machines are set to 3 or 5 credits per play but if you change to max 1 coin/credit per play then it simply takes a lot longer to run down 2000 credits. In a commerical setting (ie outside of the Casino Royalle in Vegas) they have machines that they use a Coupon instead of a bill to put credits on the machine. For this to work you need the back end computer system to process the promotional document and then do a EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer) to put credits on the machine. Not exactly a method available to us home enthusaists. As pointed out above there are some third party "hacks" that allow the machine to run coinless but I was thrown back by the expense of them. I personally run my machines on tokens at home. I use a coin rolling machine and give everyone a roll or two to play with. Way more fun than just leaving buckets of coins around. Gives you the sense of gambling and the sense of loss..... and no one loses any money ! Title: Re: How To: Enable the bill validator on a PE+ with a SET chip Post by: jay on October 29, 2011, 09:03:23 PM I am not aware of what this pin might be.
There are 4 pins for the progressive (sorry I forget the order). 1. is labeled un used 2. is labeled coin in 3. is ground 4. is data return. None of these put credits into the system. The coin in / grnd short briefly when a coin or credit is played and this is what the progressive triggers on to increment its value. The data return + gnd is what the progressive uses to send the information back to the slot so the progressive amount is displayed on the screeen. Title: Re: How To: Enable the bill validator on a PE+ with a SET chip Post by: knagl on December 16, 2011, 05:42:44 PM There are likely multiple SET chips that will work for you. The In the example shown in the first post, a SET038 is one of them.
If you need to purchase a SET chip, you could place a WTB ("Want To Buy") ad in the classifieds section of the forum and one of the vendors or another member who has one for sale will contact you. |
