Title: Riddle me this Double Diamond Man (Photos and Video)
Post by: Yoeddy1 on November 09, 2010, 11:04:07 PM
Hey guys,

I received a minty clean 2 coin Double Diamond Deluxe kit from Samron Slots today (thanks again Bob!) and installed it.  Yes, I know I just bought a Triple Lucky Sevens kit from him two weeks ago...maybe I'll sell it.   :25-

My question is regarding the sound...

I cleared and keyed it...works great.  I have a DSV00042 sound SIMM installed.  What I'm confused about concerns the "play one credit" and "when the reels stop" sounds.  Mine just make a tick sound where the sounds in the following video are quite different:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_RqRg-3nYY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_RqRg-3nYY)

Did the Double Diamond Deluxe have a dedicated sound SIMM and is the video above using a different SIMM than the DSV00042?  I even went into the I/O options to see if the sounds in the video above are available to play, and they're not, hence my previous question.

Photos to come...this game is awesome!   :3- :3-

Thanks,
Jason

S+ sounds are different than S2000 sounds using the DSV42.

Mine is an s2000 and by the look of the video above, that's an s2000 as well isn't it?

You don't understand.  You can use S+ software in an S2000 and it plays differently.

Ok Jeff, regarding the video...is it A or B?  Apologies for my ignorance...haven't owned an S+ and am unfamiliar with available options on those machines.

A.  DSV00042 (made for S2000) being used in an S2000 with S+ chips?

or

B.  DSV00042 (made for S+) being used in an S2000 with S2000 chips?

Thanks,
Jason

The DSV42 is the same.  It's just a matter of using an S+ DDDlx chip with the SB001000.  Since your machine is using S2000 software the video is using S+ software.

BTW, the S+ does not use sound simms but when you use an S+ chip in an S2000 you can take advantage of the enhanced sounds.

I like it.  S+ and S-2000---------101 Class----- :214-.   Some of us "old" timers know a thing or two--- :103- :89- :97-.  B.   Jeff K+ once again for helping our members out.  This SAME symptom and complaint has happened years ago from my memory and had been well documented.  Some of the old school stuff may have not made it to this newer platform here for viewing---- :103- :5-.  B.

So if I wanted to try this S+ chip in my machine, what details would I need to post up as a WTB in the Classifieds section?  And I'm assuming since I have backlit reels and multi-denom, this wouldn't be an issue?

Thanks,
Jason

All you need is a SB001000 chip and a DSV00042 Simm card.
Stick your S+ DD chip in the socket above the Version chip and
the SB001000 in there , set up your machines options and you're good to go!

You message in the WTB can be:

"Yo man!
Please send me an SB0001000 chip and
a DSV00042 SIMM card and I'll Paypal ya.
Thanks in advance!"        :96-

Ok, so I'm already covered on the DSV00042 SIMM card.  I have an empty EPROM socket to the right of my VS011GX1 version chip.  So I just put the SB0001000 in there and I'm good to go?  I'm not replacing any of my current chips that I currently have installed?

SB is SB100879
SG is SG000363
Version chip is VS011GX1

Thanks,
Jason

Nope, you're going to pull your SB chip and install the SB001000

Hey guys, one other question...

Which DSV SIMM produces this sound?  It's not on my 00042 for sure.

Plus, Just to be very specific you do have to put a S+ SSxxxx Reel chip in the SS socket as well.... It works in conjunction to the SB001000. It was mentioned, but I figured now would be the time to make sure you caught that fact as well. :71- :89- :71- :103-

That's not a DSV.. it's the generic roll up melody

So under Rollup Options, I have Legacy and Melody...melody gives the DSV00042 typical cool sounds and legacy gives the typical boring IGT "ding" sounds.  Would that sound in the video be produced if the MM2 nor the DSV00042 was not installed on the board?

If you pull the MM2 you will get a better rollup sound but still get legacy reel spin sounds and no dings

I also believe that depending on the base chips used will draw different sounds from a DSV42. If I remember correctly Johnny G had stated there were numerous sounds saved on the Simm but were specifically called on by the base chip. I could be mistaken, though.  :103-

This is correct.

The sounds available on my C&T vary greatly depending on which base chip I use. Thanks to Jim at Bettor Slots for that nugget of invaluable information, the older SB chip calls up many more reel spin sounds than the newer one.

Jason   A couple of thing that were not mentioned. First if you do decide to try the SB001000 with a S+ reel chip you will be stuck with what ever pay % that the SS chip is. In other words, in key menu you can not change the pay %.  ( It is what it is )  Now when you receive your two chips from who ever, you will be installing a 28 pin chip in a 32 pin socket.

OK just for you I did another experiment. I installed a SS4246, a SB001000 and a DVS00042 in a machine. The nudge sounds are a little different than the video you posted, Actually it sounds better, produces at least 4 maybe more different sounds when the reels nudge. I didn't play it very long but I think the sounds are random, I didn't see a pattern.  It did sound pretty good, something that a anal person like yourself would like.  :279- :279- Damn did I say that??????? Sorry

Bunker Don't tell Jason this but it did sound pretty damn good !!  Next he'll ask me to post a video of the game but I won't two reasons are 1 I don't know how !! 2 the DDD chips are in a Pure Pleasure Machine. You never know when or why it nudged or paid. I like to keep at least one machine like that for my drunk friend's, it really messes them up.

I just thought of something, couple of years ago I gave a Lady a S+ Double Desire, I should give her this Pure Pleasure and place them side by side. She could tell people they reflect on her sex life !!!!!

Guys, thanks so much for the info.  I may tinker around with this in the future, but for now I'm going to hold off and stick with the S2000 software setup that I have.

Interesting data point Buzz about the extra nudge sounds.  My current setup has three.

Jeff, Brian, I pulled my MM2 and sure enough, the rollup sounds are what are in the video.  Sounds are mono only in that mode...blech!

LoL...All she needs now is a game called "Lust Or Lucky"... :72-

You're doing what Rick Hunter used to do...just mess around with chips and swap this for that...
It's amazing the combos that actually work...it's kinda like making pizza... :96-

Regarding the pizza comment, I would buy somebody a virtual beer if they would be willing to throw a Mummy SIMM into a Double Diamond Deluxe.  I would buy that SIMM in a heartbeat if the nudge features etc matched up with DDD and was compatible.  Anybody have that combo to test with?

I recently added a "Play Max Credits" legend so I won't have to switch between 2 and 3 coin kits.  Other than that, just spit and polish.  Does something look different?

My Star Trek Experience "Light Speed Jackpots" Bally 5500 has a brushed metal door, including the bet deck, so it's been done.
