Title: What do I need for more sound options?
Post by: edison on November 23, 2010, 05:22:11 PM
A few months ago I purchased (2) S2000 Uprights. I notice that the sound options are very limited. For example on the Reel Stop Sound I only have "Solenoid" or “None” as options. In the casinos this is not so, you can here all kind of different sounds out of the IGT S2000. Could anyone help or advise me to what I will need for acquiring more sound options?

Depends on what games that are installed as well as the DSVxxx sound cards.
Blueridge has another thread running right now on the subject of DSV sound cards.
What particular sound bytes are you striving to acquire?
Not all machines play the same sounds...

I do not believe I have a DSVxxxx card installed. So that is a start. The game I have is a RW&Blue. I will be adding back lit reels very soon and in addition I was hoping to acquire a better reel stop sound other than solenoid. Can these cards intergrate with any game?

The RW&B doesn't have any special sounds.
It's a fairly straight forward slot machine that has very generic sounds actually
and uses the built in sounds.
Unless you get one with some type of bonus reel game?
Maybe that'll spice it up a bit?
What is the number of the SB chip?

As far as DSV sound cards...combining them up with other SB chips
sometimes gives you different sounds -
other times you'll get an "Incompatibility" error message
that will pop up on the VFD display.

Now would be a good time for you to ask around and
see if anyone would have the PSR sheet for that chip.
The PSR will tell you what options are available for that chip.
I'm not quite sure however if it will tell you exactly which DSV sound card
would give you any "enhanced sounds" - if any.
Sometimes vendors like Blueridgeslots for instance -
may or may not have that sort of information?
They deal with these DSV sound cards a lot.

I'd start a completely different thread for that.
Has nothing to do with sounds.
                        or
Type in "back lit reels" in the search box up on top here, and see all the
wonderful thread and posts relating to that subject matter!

Try to solve your sound questions here 1st or people will get confused.

Thanks! I just started a thread on the back lit question. I am going to search out the PSR for the SB100294 hopefully I will get the needed info from there.
Thanks

Give me a little time and I will install a DSV00042 SIMM into a R W & B  Wild Star ( that is as close as I have to your game ) and see what it sounds like. Let me add that you are going to need more than just a SIMM, you will also need a Multimedia Lite sound board. I talked to Blueridge and he has both for sale.

Will you please post a Pic. of your MPU board. Seems to me that I have seen at least one of them that didn't have the socket for a sound board.

Looks like your board passed the test.  I will go out to my storage trailer tomorrow and see what kind of sounds I can get from my machine.  I can say this already, what ever I get will be better than what you now have. I should re qualify that statement, nothing helps a Big Time Pay. at least nothing I've tried.  :8- :8- :8-

That MPU will use the MultiMedia Lite 2 board it goes on the 2 large Amp connectors
Make sure you ask for 2 stand offs for the MML2 Board so you can install it properly.

Now why would we want to do that instead of just pushing the MMBL2 into the large AMP connectors?
So the piggyback board doesn't fall off.
Believe me  - they do and you will NOT be happy to be digging out
a few more Washingtons outta your wallet because you neglected
to stick a couple of .10cent screws and standoffs onto the board.... :72-

Can his RWB as is be changed from legacy to enhanced sounds in the menu? That would at least give him a slightly different experience.
If not, don't mind me... :129-

I got to thinking ( first sign of trouble ) I didn't have to go out in the cold and test a machine for sound. I burned a SB100155 Double R W & Blue and installed it in a Wild Cherry machine. Using a DSV00042 it sounds just like Fords DD Haywire in  The Best Hits thread posted today. Reply 1666

Well I guess that gives him two options that we know of. The only other SIMMs I have are for No Time Pay. and they are 8 MEG. Why I have 3  DSV00051 SIMMs and two BTP machines is had to figure.   :279- :279- :279- :103- :103-

Ohhhh...will that DSV00026 also work in a S2000 Double Diamond Deluxe?  That looks like a Triple Diamond Deluxe Vision???

If so, I may need to ping blueridge for this DSV if it will work.  Anyone have any comments?

Thanks for all your input. Now in my other S2000 I do have the MMBL2 board installed on it. It is a Double Diamond Standard Game. Same thing no additional sound options. It is like the MMBL2 board is not recognised or the game does not support it. It also does not have the extra simm installed either, if that makes a difference.?? Could it be possible that these two games the RWB and the DDiamond do not support this technology?? If so I most likely need to upgrade to a game that does...... :103- :279-
any thoughts?????

No reason to have an MM2 installed unless there is a DSV SIMM installed.  Throw a DSV00042 in that Double Diamond and the doors that lead to music will be unlocked in your menus.

Thanks,
Jason

NO  what it means is, if you don't have a SIMM installed you might as well remove the MM 2 one is no good without the other. If you install a SIMM in one or both machines, you will receive different sounds than you now have.  You have watched both videos and listened to the sounds. I can see no reason why you will not receive something close to those sounds.

I have a Double Double Diamond, a Triple Diamond 5 Line, And a Triple Diamond 9 Line machines. I will install a DSV00042 in one of them if you like. If I had a SB100294 I would try it, but I don't.

That would be great to hear how it sounds in the Double Diamond. But please only when you get a chance. I will be going out of town Thursday and won't be back till Sunday. You can wait till then if you want. Also I guess I will be needing a DSV00042 and possibly another  MMBL2 any suggestions?
A member mention a place in the beginning of this thread. I guess I can check there also.

Here's a video of a Double Diamond Haywire, but it represents the sounds of a DSV00042.  I would order a DSV00042, and install it on the MM2 in your Double Diamond.  Go into your set up menus and configure the "preferred" sound options reflected in the video.  If all sounds good, remove the MM2/DSV00042 in your Double Diamond and throw it into your RWB.  See if the menu options are available once installed in that machine and play around with it.

Thanks,
Jason

edison   Take a look at your DD Base chip. If it's a SB001000 and has a SS chip installed, I can do a exact test with one of my machines.

That's the one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK I believe I got it now. I will need 1- MMBL2 with standoffs and 1-DSV00042 SIMM  No Clear chip or key chip procedures are necessary just mount the MMBL2 to the mother board, install the DSV00042 SIMM  to the MMBL2 , reboot the machine and the sound menu will now have all the new optional sounds showing, and Blue Ridge has it all.

Sound Right?

The SS chip is the labeled 28 pin IC middle right close to the MMLB in your picture
it is the one that not filling up the socket, since the socket is 32 pins.

Let me see if I have it right. You have one sound board need two,  you have 0 simms and need two. ( that is if your going to do both machines ) I don't think you will have to do a Key, but if you don't have a key chip, get a key 31 from Jim with the other parts. Sooner are later your going to also need a 97 clear chip, up to you.

When you get the SIMMs you will have to go into sound setup.  It's not hard at all, if I can do it, it has to be easy!! All that has been covered a bunch in the last week or so. If you want both machines to sound the same, get 2 DSV00042 seems some folks have a DSV00024. I can't or won't tell you which one to get. Your choice.

I have to run into town and will play around with a machine with a SB001000 when I get back.
